SHANGHAI, April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In China, the ongoing predicament of unbalanced medical resources has prevented the public from receiving effective medical care.

With ambitions to improve China's current medical system, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Harvard graduate Jennifer Xu founded the mobile doctor-patient communication platform, Green Apple Health, in 2013.

In the era of mobile technology Green Apple Health is the pioneer driving the blooming mobile healthcare industry, dedicating itself to revolutionizing the way Chinese people receive medical care.

Despite the capital market recession in 2015, Green Apple Health continues to make great strides, completing series B funding to the amount of 10 million dollars.

Harvard MBAer's innovation way

Jennifer Xu, founder & CEO of Green Apple Health, has close to 10 years substantial healthcare background. She studied at Shanghai Jiaotong University for her bachelor's degree, and was employed as a senior manager at Abbott Medical and Lilly.

Xu received her MBA at Harvard Business School in 2011, is the former VP of HBS Shanghai Alumni Club in charge of entrepreneurial events, and the China director of Harvard Medical Health Alumni Association. Jennifer expressed that, apart from the theoretical knowledge and skills learned from textbooks, the most important thing she took away from her MBA studies at Harvard, is a sense of drive. Her most propounding realization is that we do not have to live for others, but instead should think about what or how we can contribute to society and be someone with value.

While people are following the mainstreams in their attempts to change the world for the better, you can think outside the box, and view problems from a new perspective. Jennifer's final decision to return to China is impelled by her medical tour project in India. "Before my visit, I thought that since India was very poor, its healthcare and medical resources would be deficient," she said.

But when she arrived, she was deeply impressed by India's medical industries. "70% of India's hospitals are private hospitals, which provide top-notch facilities and high quality services. In addition, Indians who receive medical degrees from the United Kingdom and United States can directly practice medicine back home, prompting many local talents to return home once they've graduated."

Observing the astounding differences between India's and China's medical systems, Jennifer decided to return to China, believing that there is much to do for China's health care system.

Unlike many medical consultation platforms, which doctors can only provide simple consultations for patients' mundane inquires, Green Apple Health introduced a "doctor-patient acquaintance" concept that sets it apart from its tense market competitors.

In this "doctor-patient acquaintance" business model, patients can keep direct contact with their doctors through the Green Apple Health App after their first visiting consultation. In particular, patients with common or recurring medical conditions can use the App to easily communicate with their corresponding doctors and receive follow-up medical advice, saving them time from another hospital visit.

Jennifer states that this new concept of "doctor-patient acquaintance" has helped the company efficiently seize the doctors market. There are already close to 100,000 registered doctors on the Green Apple Health platform, where over 60% are first tier doctors.

In the year of 2015, Green Apple Health completed various strategic initiatives by integrating the best healthcare resources. With the cooperation of Cardinal Health, an American healthcare provider, Green Apple Health was able to provide online pharmacy services. Instead of queuing long hours in hospitals, patients can conveniently receive their prescribed medicine through the use of Green Apple Health App. Once an order has been placed, doctors will send an approval and the prescribed drugs will be mailed directly to the patient's home.

In addition, Green Apple Health and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a hospital popular among Hollywood celebrities, are collaboratively realizing further healthcare services to fulfill medical needs.

In 2016, Green Apple Health aspires to help more users by implementing additional effective healthcare services. Users can use Green Apple Health to efficiently complete a series of preparatory work, such as finding a corresponding doctor, consulting with them directly online, and booking a consultation appointment instantly.

Green Apple Health also offers a range of high-end services, such as designated specialist surgeries, in-patient care arrangements, medical treatments or other health services. In 2016, Green Apple Health aims to "revolutionize the way Chinese people receive medical care".

Green Apple Health was founded in 2013, and has successfully closed three rounds of financing. The angel fund was invested by the famous investor Gang Wang, who also invested in DiDi, a successful online transportation network company in China.

In 2014, Green Apple Health raised 5 million dollars in its series A funding, invested by GSR Ventures. In February of 2016, series B funding was closed by DT Capital followed by GSR Ventures.

"What do you want to do with this one wild and precious life?" is Jennifer's favorite quote, which perfectly demonstrates her determination to "revolutionize the way Chinese people receive medical care".
