HONG KONG, Sept. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A delegation of top leaders from American Humane, the United States' first and foremost national humane organization, led by President and CEO Dr. Robin Ganzert and board member and former CEO of PepsiCo Restaurants International for Asia and the Middle East Tim Lane, is visiting Hong Kong to expand its life-changing, life-saving work into Asia and reaching out to a wide range of key influentials here.

The U.S. delegation is in Hong Kong from September 16 through September 21, and has a busy schedule, meeting with top officials, filmmakers, business groups, and leaders in the pet industry, conservation field, and philanthropy about advances in animal welfare pioneered by the 140-year-old American Humane organization as well as new research and discoveries into the mutually beneficial power of the human-animal bond.  Under the leadership of Dr. Robin Ganzert, an internationally renowned ambassador for animals, American Humane not only helps improve the welfare of more than 1 billion animals worldwide – in communities struck by disasters, in agriculture, in film and television, and in conservation settings – but conducts ground-breaking research that helps both people and animals.

"Animals and people share deep connections and in many ways our welfare is intertwined," says Dr. Ganzert. "Building a more humane world for animals helps us build a more humane world for people, and we very much wish to share our collaborative, positive approach as we expand our work in Asia."

Among the key members of the American Humane delegation is influential international business figure Tim Lane. Former CEO for PepsiCo Restaurants International for Asia and the Middle East, Mr. Lane led the rapid development of PepsiCo's restaurant brands (KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell) throughout Asia and the Middle East. The great success of KFC in China enabled PepsiCo to spin off the restaurant business into what is presently known as YUM Brands, Inc. He also served as President and CEO of Holiday Inn Worldwide.

"American Humane has worked across the globe for more than 100 years, helping both people and animals," says Dr. Ganzert. "We are thrilled with the enthusiasm and warm reception we have received from Hong Kong's leaders and decision-makers in every field, and we believe this is the perfect place for us to open a new era in extending our mission around the world."

American Humane is the United States' first national humane organization, founded in 1877.
