HONG KONG, Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) brings to Hong Kong one of the most popular guitar masterpieces: Concierto de Aranjuez, conducted by Alexander Shelley and featuring outstanding guitarist Xuefei Yang. The concert will take place on 18 and 19 November at 20:00 at the HK Cultural Centre Concert Hall.
The programme features two Spanish works -- Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez and Bizet's sultry Carmen Suite -- and two American works. The spotlight will be on Xuefei Yang, acclaimed as one of the world's finest classical guitarists. The Irish Times raved: "With Yang showing a sense of total ownership of this piece [Concierto de Aranjuez], this was one of those performances that was simply revelatory, full of fresh and unexpected turns."
The Hong Kong Philharmonic is recognized as Asia's foremost classical orchestra. The Orchestra presents more than 150 concerts over a 44-week season and attracts more than 200,000 music lovers annually.

This concert is part of the Spanish October (www.spanish-october.com), a two month long celebration designed to showcase the best of Spanish gastronomy, music, literature, art, flamenco and cinema.
