"VR Beautiful China Experience Day" Making Waves on U.S. Campus

BEIJING, Nov 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As the 2016 China-U.S. Tourism Year draws to an end, Yale University and American University held the "VR Experience Day of Beautiful China" event, a VR promotion program similar to Google's Expeditions VR program which hit the campus last year, but this time, from China. As the organizer of this event and one of the first organizations that developed VR content, China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC) brought hundreds of VR tourism scenes in China to the U.S.

This event presented the students with famous mountains and rivers, as well as scenic spots in China, including Fujian, Guilin, and Mount Huangshan. Thousands of pieces of VR equipment were available for the students, and those who participated gave great feedback, expressing their wishes to go to China to see the beautiful and magical scenes in person.

Rose Ann Robertson, interim Senior Associate Dean of the School of Communication of American University, told CICC that as a form of media, VR shortens the distance between different parts of the world, and allows people to know more about each other. She also expressed that she hoped to have more cultural exchanges with China and would like to take her team to China for a visit.

College students from both China and the U.S. showed great enthusiasm for VR technology. Students from Beijing Film Academy and one of the prize-winners of the first "Meeting China" VR Youth Photography Exhibition, were also present, and shared his experience in VR content production with U.S. students. CICC encouraged young Americans to participate in the second "Meeting China" VR Youth Photography Exhibition, inviting them to come to China in 2017 and see a beautiful China through VR technology.

According to a report, many Chinese institutions and individuals have been exploring VR technology since 2014 leading to almost synchronous development in hardware equipment and content development with the rest of the world. As a known international cultural exchange organization, CICC is the largest VR content producer in China, and has gained attention and support for non-game, non-entertainment industrial applications from organizations and companies, including AMD, Dell and related organizations.
