LOS ANGELES, Mar. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Organised by the Shaanxi tourism board, the 'Holding hands on the Millennium Silk Road' event was launched in Grand Park, Los Angeles, with people of all ages filling the park to experience the romanticism of this magical and mysterious event.

In order to promote Shaanxi's culture and tourism at home and abroad, the Tourist Board ran a series of original and innovative online activities and other promotional events throughout the year. On February 25 and 26, with the help of some international cosplay friends, Yang Guifei, Tang Minghuang, and the Terracotta Warriors were briefly brought back to life, and for a few moments flashed before the eyes of an enthusiastic crowd. Tourists who attended the event said the interactive element made the activities fun and extremely interesting.

Following the success of this weekend, Shaanxi Tourism Bureau quickly launched the "Holding hands on the Millennium Silk Road" event. Parts of Grand Park were transformed into scenes from Shaanxi, and with a backdrop of The Silk Road, tourists were able to take photographs to help them cherish their day on the Grand Park's version of 'The Silk Road'. The interactive activities on display let everyone view the unique history and culture of Shaanxi, and having experienced the style of the Silk Road, a final surprise was provided, as a variety of special Shaanxi gifts were given to visitors to remember their day.

Once the event was underway, an excited couple said: "This event is great, we are very lucky to live in Los Angeles, and now the event has arrived here, we can also experience it." The boyfriend of this couple had seen friends on Facebook promoting the event, and decided to bring his girlfriend to attend. He said that many people living in modern urban society often live a monotonous and busy life, therefore they usually choose to travel during the holiday season to release the pressure built up by work. This type of activity is very creative, there is no need to rush around, and everyone can experience the magic and culture of another country. "Thanks to the organisers for giving us this opportunity." A female tourist also said "Young people are now relatively busy. Their social circle is very small, and they lack opportunities to meet with friends. Through events like this, the working population can relax, whilst experiencing a different country's history and culture, and it's really very interesting. If you have the opportunity to travel to China, you must visit Shaanxi and visit the Silk Road".

The "Holding hands on the Millennium Silk Road" event gave many busy people a special opportunity to express their love to their companions. It reminded people that even in the midst of their busy city lives, they should not forget to give warmth and affection to those who are dearest to them.

Background of The Silk Road

The Silk Road was a historical trade route connecting Europe with Mainland Asia, which promoted trade relations between the two continents. China is universally known as the birthplace of silk, and Xi'an, in ancient times known as Chang'an, was the starting point of the Silk Road. The city was established more than 5,000 years ago, and has over 3,000 years of history, including more than 1,000 years of being the provincial capital, and is also one of China's four ancient capitals. It is considered not only as one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization, but of the Chinese nation itself. The province is also one of the most attractive tourist destinations in China and is currently a national city of culture. Situated within the province are six sites that have been awarded 'World Heritage' status; Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum, The Terracotta Warrior Army, The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, The Small Wild Goose Pagoda, The remains of the Tang dynasty Chang'an City Daming Palace, The remains of the Han Chang'an City Weiyang Palace, and finally, The Xingjiao Temple.

Welcome to Shaanxi, the starting point of the Silk Road - a cultural experience like no other.
