TORONTO, March 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bishop Strachan School (BSS), Canada's oldest independent day and boarding school for girls, celebrates its 150th anniversary in Hong Kong at a March 30 reception with special guest Jeff Nankivell, the Consul General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao.

BSS Head of School Deryn Lavell, in China to visit alumnae and parents of boarding students, hosts the reception with BSS Chair of the Board of Governors and BSS alumna Cindy Tripp. The evening, held at The Jockey Club of Hong Kong, brings together alumnae and friends of BSS to celebrate 150 years of excellence in girls' education and the founding of the school in 1867, the same year as Canada's confederation.

Jeff Nankivell has been Consul General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao since 2016. He had previously served as Director General and was responsible for Canada's official development assistance in Asia, with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and then with Global Affairs Canada.
