TAIPEI, , June 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft is always committed to and takes actions on corporate social responsibilities. "In response to the digital and cloud era," says Steven Shaw, General Manager of Microsoft Taiwan. "Technology is a major drive to digital transformation for businesses. Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Eden is one of the most important NPOs in Taiwan, with the highest number of cases in serving the disabled. We are glad to partner with Eden. This donation will support Eden to build a brand-new service model to accelerate their pace in digital transformation, gather service momentum, and achieve more collective good."

Microsoft and Eden Foundation form a philanthropic strategic partnership

Microsoft helps Eden afford digital innovative services and achieve digital transformation

With over 80 stations island-wide, Eden has been offering regional welfare services for the disabled, migrants and other underprivileged groups. The strategic partnership with Eden will bring innovative services enabled by Microsoft to nearly 40,000 disabled and underprivileged families encompassing members from 0 to 99 years old across different generations. Digital and cloud technologies will also support Eden in its transformation processes.

"Microsoft Taiwan continues to exercise local corporate social responsibilities," says Vincent Shih, General Manager of Corporate, External and Legal Affairs at Microsoft Taiwan. "We support Eden to embrace innovative technologies, and pay it forward to other NPOs and platforms. With innovative services and resources from Microsoft, Eden will move faster in digital transformation. We will also work together to deliver innovative technologies and resources to more organizations and communities in need, and further fulfill our corporate social responsibilities."

Microsoft software and applications support Eden social workers to optimize service quality and efficiency

In this donation, Microsoft gives practical tools to Eden social workers in touch with each and every underprivileged family, so they can provide in a more convenient manner. To understand and record service users and their family profile, for example, social workers often need to draw family trees. Word application is feasible, but it takes lots of time. Professional software Visio, on the other hand, saves costs, and its embedded graphs can portray more sophisticated family connections based on the templates directly applied. Data can also be integrated into graphs for archives and analytics.

"These cases and our services are always our priorities," says Cho-Sung Huang, Eden's Chief Executive Officer. "With limited resources, information management and system updates are often challenging to NPOs. Professional assistance received from Microsoft helps improve our service efficiency. This is how Microsoft substantially exercises its corporate social responsibility. We are still on our digital transformation journey, and we are willing to share our experiences with other NPOs to enlarge service capacity with innovative technologies."

"Over the past 20 years," says Huang, "each branch of our organization, from general affairs, finance, human resources, procurement to service department, used to have their systems in silos. It wasn't until Microsoft's donation of Office 365 that different systems are finally connected to integrate mailing, calendar, and document sharing features. Starting from last year, Microsoft works with Eden to offer computer courses to migrants and underprivileged children. Professional instructors deliver proper security information, word processing skills, and digital tool SWAY. Basic programming games and various courses help develop their information literacy and logics. We are grateful that our charitable partners continue to contribute their expertise and give back to the society in various ways."

Microsoft continues to bring corporate social responsibility to more families and NPOs

Microsoft focuses on technology innovations and reforms, to improve life and productivity with superior software, facilities and services. Millions of users have really benefited from technology. With varying scales and head counts, NPOs and charities require different technical supports. As a leading technology solution provider, Microsoft has multiple software license offers to meet various scenarios and needs. Microsoft will continue to donate software and cloud services to deliver innovative technologies further, so we can contribute and achieve more in Taiwan.
