With planning for the facility heating up, reaching an agreement on support from the Northern Territory Government could not have come at a better time.

"The Territory Labor Government wants to secure jobs of the future now. This is why we are supporting innovative investments such as Energy Renaissance's battery manufacturing project in Darwin, and this is why we want  to see 50% renewable energy in the NT by 2030." stated the NT Chief Minister, Michael Gunner this week.

Development of a manufacturing facility requires access to a suitable industrial site, supply chain infrastructure, and a skilled and technologically-literate workforce. The Renaissance One facility builds much needed economic diversity and generates maximum value-add from available mineral assets.

Renaissance One will be a large and highly innovative manufacturing facility, and aims to become an employer of choice for the local workforce. Local industries will benefit directly from engagement with the manufacturing supply chain, and indirectly from increased cash-flow within the local economy.

The support and engagement of the Northern Territory Government in the project and research for viable sites has been a strong contributing factor in selecting the right location.

"Battery storage will be an important element in future renewable energy propositions and it is exciting Energy Renaissance has identified Darwin as their preferred site. Darwin is the capital of the north and we provide strategic advantages with our proximity to market. Projects such as this will help the Territory's economy grow over the long term, creating exciting local job and career opportunities for Territorians."
Michael Gunner, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory.

The time is right to be developing opportunities for new investment, from both public and private sources. The emergence of Darwin as a centre for innovation in renewable energy will add much-needed diversity to the Northern Territory economy.

Growth in the capacity and investment in Australia's renewable energy sector, supports our international commitments on climate change, particularly the achievement of 2030 emissions targets.
