GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A key trade platform for Sino-Brazil trade, Canton Fair, the largest trade fair in China held biannually in Guangzhou, has reported a 41.9 percent year-on-year increase of the number of Brazilian buyers over the 119th session after the country's economy started recovering since late 2015. The figure is expected to rise after the recently-concluded BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Summit that was hosted in China.

Lighting Products A Leading Indicator of Growing Sino-Brazil Trade

A research report published by the China-Brazil Investment and Trade Center suggests that lighting products, building hardware and construction tools are currently among the top import goods for Brazil, and that Brazilian companies have been showing a growing preference for Chinese products. The China lighting industry saw exports of US$12.9 million (approx. CNY 85.8 million) to Brazil in the first quarter of 2017, increasing by 27.41% compared to the same period in 2016.

Camila Moura, Marketing Director of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, noted that product diversity and differentiation, as well as the complementarity strengths between China and Brazil show how "BRICS can form a new trade circle."

Chen Liang, senior PR specialist of Canadian Solar, a regular exhibitor at the Canton Fair, suggests that the annual production capacity of their parts factory in Sao Paolo, Brazil is near 400 MW (megawatt) and can support the company's business development in the Brazilian market. Currently, the company has three solar photovoltaic power stations in Brazil with a total production capacity of 400MW, and has signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) with Brazilian organizations.

Michelle Feng, Business Development Manager of GMY Lighting & Technology Co., Ltd, has attended the Canton Fair for ten years to expand their business opportunities in Brazil and markets in South East Asia, America and Europe by demonstrating their products.

Canton fair to promote bilateral trade between the two countries

Camara Brasil China (CCIBC) has been attending the Canton Fair since 2012, introducing Chinese companies to the trade environment and sharing their marketing and developing experience. Brazilian exhibitors have brought their architectural hardware, construction materials, and electronic home appliances, as well as food and beverages to the Canton Fair to find opportunities in China ever since.

"The fair has created a trading circle and word-of-mouth effects for all traders around the world. Referral information such as popular products and prices gathered from buyers and other exhibitors at the Canton Fair will help as to set up our next-step marketing strategy," noted Feng.

Maggie Pu, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office at Canton Fair, believes that the Canton Fair has been an important platform and a bridge connecting all BRICS countries, helping enhance trade between them. The deepening economic ties between China and Brazil is a perfect illustration of this.

"We will continue to promote the import and export of quality products to both countries and set an excellent example circle of Sino-Brazilian trade."
