BOLOGNA, Italy, March 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- China will be the Guest of Honour of the 55th Bologna Children's Book Fair at BolognaFiere Exhibition Center, Italy, from March 26 to 29, 2018. Focusing on the theme of "Dream," the Guest of Honour logo features the image of a child and a panda reading together, which symbolizes the bright future and wonderful dream brought about by reading.
With an area of 600 sqm, the China Pavilion is located in Hall 26 B127. The pavilion design is inspired by Chinese traditional lanterns and ancient stories. The China pavilion is divided into four zones, namely book exhibition, culture, activities and reception. In addition, next to the Services Centre of the fairground, a section of around 300 sqm will be used for the Exhibition of Chinese Original Illustration Exhibition. As one of the highlights of the China program, the Exhibition of Chinese Original Illustration will showcase 150 original artworks by 30 Chinese illustrators. Visitors will have the chance to learn about the past and present of children's publishing in China and hear the voice of Chinese publishers.
A host of professional events and cultural exhibitions will be staged, including "Dialogue & Growth: Forum of 'Think Like a Great Mind' Series," "A Brave New World – International Programs of Zhejiang Juvenile and Children's Publishing House," "The Trend Report of China Children's Book Market Development," and "A Translation Program of a Century of Chinese Children's Literature (English Edition)".
China will have the largest children's publishing delegation to date to visit 2018 BCBF with over 300 people from more than 90 Chinese publishers showcasing over 4,000 Chinese titles, and the majority of which are original Chinese children's books. Within the delegation, 26 famous children's authors including Cao Wenxuan, 2016 Hans Christian Andersen Award winner, together with 24 Chinese illustrators including Xiong Liang, who is on the 2018 Hans Christian Andersen Award short list, will be at the fair to exchange ideas with international peers.
