This year, CIAYO Comics rewards winners with Wacom's latest digital tools, motorcycles, and cash prizes with a total of IDR 450 million; and an offer to have their work published as official comic on CIAYO Comics. Faza Meonk, Archie The Red Cat, Sweta Kartika, Adel Maghfirare, and Fajar Ghosty - who have become big names in Indonesia's comic industry - join the competition as judges to elect this year's winners. This year's competition also adds a new category; entries are not limited to one-shots, but also mini-series. Entries eligible for the mini-series category must consist of three chapters, allowing creators to deeper explore and elaborate their work to present and attract the readers.

Every entry participating in CIAYO Comics Challenge is published on a special channel on CIAYO Comics app and website. "By participating in the challenge, these comic authors already have the opportunity to publish their works to reach the local audience," said Khrisnawan Adhie, Head of Business Development CIAYO Corp.

The significant raise of participation is palpably related with the raise of digital comic readership in Indonesia. At least 13 million people in Indonesia read digital comics from their smartphone. This number is predicted to raise up to 20% within the next five years. CIAYO Comics Challenge is a contribution from CIAYO Comics as an effort to improve comic readership in Indonesia.

Adhie is confident CIAYO Comics Challenge does well in its part to improve comic readership in Indonesia, "Digital comic has become a regular consumption for today's young people. The reading access is also easier to obtain. We have to anticipate the contents produced. The more contents produced and available, the more readership grows. That's the purpose of this competition: to prompt the creators to create, thus encouraging the readership to check their works," he added.

CIAYO Comics still holds the no. 1 spot for local digital comic platform in Indonesia. Until the end of 2018 CIAYO Comics has worked together with 300 local creators from all over the country. From big names like Faza Meonk and Mice Misrad to creative studios like Digidoy Komik and Red Sugar Studio. More than 1.000 local comics are available on CIAYO Comics and have gained more than 30 million readers in the last two years. CIAYO Comics targets to market their comics to international stage in 2019.
