Worldwide Manufacturers Matching Technology Needs at the agriChina Exhibition

BEIJING, China, April 24 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The western world pays tribute to the huge potential of agriculture in China at the biggest event of its kind, April 26 – 28 in Beijing. agriChina 2007 will feature 130 global exhibitors offering state-of-the-art farm machinery and services and an expected 15,000 specialist visitors.

agriChina is a global showcase of modern Western and Asian agricultural machinery. International specialists gather to compare the most appropriate technical agricultural production approaches. Chinese manufacturers in particular have experienced a booming farm equipment spare parts and components sector where the rapid mechanisation of Chinese agriculture has involved a 15% increase in medium tractors in the last year alone, with the same percentage increase for harvesters. Farm equipment and spare parts businesses with annual turnovers of more than EUR 500,000 have increased in China by 42% over the last three years, according to the China Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers (CAAMM).

At agriChina, global technologies are matched with international seminars and presentations on subjects from soil management, food safety and beef cattle production, to rice harvesting, bioenergy and international benchmarking. With China already the largest producer of potatoes in the world, harvesting a quarter of global output or some 73 million tonnes annually, it's no surprise that a whole series of agriChina presentations will concentrate on this crop.

China may still be a land of 240 million small farmers but the number of larger Western-style units is increasing. That's why agriChina will also feature a presentation for large-scale farmers and agricultural contractors organised by the Chinese Society of Agricultural Machinery (CSAM).

The organisers, DLG-Agriservice, a subsidiary of the DLG, Deutsche Hannover Messe and Hannover Fairs Center Shanghai, also want agriChina participants to get to know Chinese farming and farm equipment production. A unique expert excursion is organised on Sunday, April 29, which includes visits to cattle farms, arable units, a growing greenhouse enterprise and an agricultural engineering plant.

Unique this year is the extent of a personal match making service for exhibitors and visitors to the event for smooth business contacts between East and West. Martin Lüth, head of international cooperation with the DLG reports: "Weeks ago, our special team in Beijing was already arranging appointments."

Why not visit agriChina 2007 as a member of the international press. Interviews with the event organisers, including DLG representatives, can be organised along with guided tours of the event and its major exhibitors. For more information visit: http://www.agri-china.cn or http://www.dlg.org/en .
