- Increasing Near-Term Synergies from UNISITS Acquisition

- Direction of Transportation Industry Creates Opportunities

BEIJING, April 15 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- China TransInfo Technology Corp., (Nasdaq: CTFO), ("China TransInfo" or the "Company"), a leading provider of public transportation information systems technology and comprehensive solutions in the People's Republic of China ("PRC"), today announced that its majority-owned subsidiary, UNISITS Technology Corp. LTD ("UNISITS"), has been selected to design and construct a highway management program in Chongqing. This program is the pioneering project of an ambitious national program - the National Highway Information Grid.

Announced by China's Ministry of Transportation in November 2009, the National Highway Information Grid aims to build a comprehensive highway management platform in order to monitor and regulate key sections of national and provincial highways. The new platform is intended to integrate highway traffic information to strengthen the coordination, emergency control and transportation services of China's highway grid. The pioneering local highway information grid, being built in Chongqing, will set the standard for future grid projects. Chongqing's program includes a highway management platform, a comprehensive operation system, an emergency management and response system, a database system, and other supporting systems.

"Construction plan under the National Highway Information Grid project creates significant new opportunities for us in the inter-city markets. By leveraging our recent acquisition of UNISITS, its talent pool, sales networks and leading market position in the highway electronic and machinery system integration industry, we are well positioned to enter the high-margin highway information grid market," commented Mr. Shudong Xia, Chief Executive Officer of China TransInfo, "We are very proud to be selected to participate in this pioneering project, which reflects the emerging synergies from our acquisition of UNISITS. We look forward to the opportunity to set the industry standards for creating integrated transportation technologies and solutions for the National Highway Information Grid, which we believe will accelerate the Company's introduction of premium comprehensive urban transportation solutions for the highway market."

Transportation Industry Update

In early 2010, PRC's Ministry of Transportation called for a transition from infrastructure investment to construction, maintenance, management and transportation services to stimulate growth of the country's transportation industry. The future of the industry will largely be dependent upon creating and maintaining an integrated transportation system and related information technology (IT) services. The Ministry of Transportation has also decided to increase its investment in IT services to improve transportation information technology, increase transportation efficiency, and enhance transportation security supervision and emergency control capabilities.

"We are very delighted to see this critical change in the growth outlook of China's transportation industry, the increasing focus on information technology (IT) and the value created by the IT-based services," commented Mr. Xia. "As a leading solution provider in China's transportation industry, we have long believed that this directional market change was coming and, as such, have focused our efforts in enhancing technological and marketing initiatives in the urban intelligent transportation, inter-city transportation and transportation information service segments. China TransInfo will continue to strengthen our leadership in the traditional urban intelligent transportation and anticipate further synergies between China TransInfo and UNISITS in inter-city transportation in the near future. The Company's innovative, leading real-time traffic information technology and monitor platform technology represents an important competitive edge and is expected to help sustain our first mover advantage in the transportation information service segment."
