BEIJING, June 30 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- JUCCCE (Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy) and NAMC (National Academy for Mayors of China) co-organized the 2010 JUCCCE China Energy Forum occurring today at the Shangri-La in Beijing, China. The Forum features the individual stories of China's mayors and SOE executives, who will tell attendees about their efforts to green China's cities. JUCCCE is a leading non-profit organization seeking to accelerate the greening of China. NAMC is run by China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and trains China's mayors on a rotating basis.
In the last 25 years, China's energy demand has tripled. Industrial energy demand accounts for 71% of energy demand in China. With strong control over land use, industry and local policy, mayors play a deciding role in China's cities. China's mayors and State Owned Enterprise executives therefore play a large role in shaping today's China.

JUCCCE has completed a series of mayors' training courses with the National Academy for Mayors of China (NAMC). In 2009, JUCCCE trained 90 mayors and vice mayors from across China, representing over 30 million Chinese citizens. JUCCCE / NAMC trainings will continue and expand in 2010 and 2011.
Today's 2010 JUCCCE China Energy Forum will gather attendees from around the world. Additional highlights from today's Forum include: the awarding of the Hillary Institute of International Leadership's 2010 Laureate to JUCCCE Chairperson Peggy Liu, the presentation of McKinsey & Company's new China Water Cost Curve, and a keynote address by IPCC Chair and Nobel Laureate Dr. Rajendra Pachauri.
