SHANGHAI, China, June 14 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Touchmedia today announced a huge expansion of its Beijing operations. They have completed contracts for 30,000 taxis to carry their interior posters and Bai Xing magazine, and are close to concluding agreements for 15,000 more vehicles.
Touchmedia will also launch their interactive taxi touchscreens within the next few months, and have agreements for a further 10,000 taxis to include this system. Combined, this will give Touchmedia more than 75% of taxis in the Beijing market. They already have a dominant position in Shanghai, with contracts for all 5 of the top fleets.
This system will provide a service to passengers with maps, information about Beijing facilities and locations, translations for foreign visitors, news on relevant events in the city, as well as dining, shopping and entertainment updates.
Touchmedia launched a similar system in Shanghai earlier this year. For advertisers, the system offers targeted reach of the affluent, white-collar professionals who use taxis frequently. With the interactivity of the touchscreen, making the content much more involving, the medium also achieves dramatically higher advertising recall and response. Beijing government figures show that 4 million people per day ride in taxis in the capital.
Supporting clients to date include Sony Ericsson, HSBC, Volkswagen, McDonald's, Kodak, Dove, Dopod, Calvin Klein, Nokia, Virgin Airlines, PICC, Guangda Bank and more than 80 others.
