Modern Pentathlon to Highlight Nordic Tradition

SHANGHAI, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- "This will be a competition to remember!" says Dodge, one of the Swedish competitors for the Nordic pentathlon that will take place at the Expo Park September 15. All the Nordic countries; Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, are participating in this event that will crown the Nordic champion at EXPO Shanghai 2010.

In northern Europe there has always been a strong tradition in multilateral cooperation in all aspects of life. Between the Nordic countries during EXPO 2010 Shanghai there have been many political and business oriented seminars and events highlighting this fact. In order to also showcase the cultural aspects of the Nordic cooperation to the visitors and Chinese media, a group of Nordic pavilion guides have joined together and planned a Nordic pavilion pentathlon.

"This is a way to highlight the close cooperation between the Nordic countries for our Chinese visitors and also to bring some good team spirit to the last two months of the EXPO," says Anne Schmidt from the Denmark Pavilion, who is planning the pentathlon together with guides from the other Nordic countries.

The Pentathlon will be a full day event, starting in the Norwegian pavilion with a word puzzle, followed by a treasure hunt outside the Icelandic pavilion. The Swedish pavilion will organize a relay through the exhibition and a competition in stamping EXPO passes outside in the entrance hall. The day will continue with a traditional Finnish boot throwing competition and end with a triathlon in the Denmark Pavilion. The winner will be announced during an award ceremony in the entrance hall of the Swedish pavilion.

May the best country win!
