SHANGHAI, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- September 30, the Swedish pavilion at Expo 2010 will host a reading competition for primary school students called "innovative reading". The event is jointly hosted by the Swedish pavilion and head office of Shanghai education press. The jury will consist of the general commissioner from the Swedish pavilion, Annika Rembe, and some representatives from the Shanghai education press. The jury will select a winning school and award the participants.
The reading competition has been going on for three months and attracted more than 30 primary schools to participate. From 1 pm to 5 pm on September 30, the final nine schools and more than 100 students will show us their well-prepared performances at the entrance hall of the Swedish pavilion. Nine shows on classic fairy tales will be presented to the audience and the jury. The stories are all selected from the special Expo fairy tales book published by the Shanghai education press, and include "Pippi Longstocking" and other world-famous fairy tales. The goal of this competition is to teach children how to express themselves through innovative reading using their body language.
The Swedish pavilion is very popular among the children. Pippi Longstocking, the Dala horses, the slide and the swings are all children's favorites. Also, the Swedish pavilion has already held many activities for the children, including a Children's Day event, a Pippi Longstocking event, the "innovation from play" event, autistic children paintings exhibition, and many more. Through these activities, the Swedish pavilion wants to showcase the heart of Swedish education, which is based on the conviction that children who are given time and freedom to play and explore will develop a truly innovative mind and spirit of creativity.
