Company expands Asia Pacific team to meet growing regional demand for cloud services
SINGAPORE, March 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), the leading provider of cloud optimisation services, has appointed David Rich as Vice President, Asia Pacific to lead its rapidly expanding regional team covering Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.

David Rich has over 30 years of experience in the high-tech and telecom sector, previously holding senior management roles at Verizon Business, Global One and Cable & Wireless, where he gained an in-depth knowledge of the business and regulatory landscape across Asia Pacific.
Based out of Akamai's regional headquarters in Singapore, David Rich will be responsible for driving the company's growth throughout the region, helping businesses to securely power rich media, enterprise applications and cloud services online.
Akamai works with some of the best-known brands worldwide who use the Internet for business, including one-third of Global 500® companies, the top 20 global eCommerce sites, nine out of ten top global banks, and the top 30 media and entertainment companies. Customers in Asia include Cathay Pacific, Standard Chartered, Air Asia and Rediff.
Akamai achieved $1 billion (U.S.) in revenue in 2010 and expanded headcount in APAC by 30 percent. In addition, Akamai has opened a new office in Hong Kong to support regional enterprises with cloud adoption, eCommerce and next generation media. Betty Lin, formerly of Sun Microsystems HK, has also joined Akamai, and will serve as Country Manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan, reporting to David Rich.
