HONG KONG, Sept. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The most representative maritime event in Asia, Marintec China 2011, will be held from 29 November to 2 December 2011 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Pudong, Shanghai, China. It will break the 2009 record in terms of both the size of the exhibition area and the number of exhibiting companies.

Spreading over a total of five halls, from W1 to W5 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Marintec China 2011 is already fully booked and covers more than 57,500 sqm. To accommodate the additional demand, the organiser is erecting a tent outside the exhibition halls. Over 1,500 exhibiting companies will demonstrate their latest products, technologies and services as well as perform business activities and exchange the latest industry news.

The shipbuilding industry has been one of the most competitive export-oriented industries in China, which is a major force in the global shipbuilding industry. In 2010, according to the French ship broker, Barry Rogliano Salles, China retained its pre-eminent position as the world's number one shipbuilding nation based on the number of ships it has built and the number of orders it has received. South Korea followed in second place while Japan took third place. This proves that Chinese shipbuilding has undergone a significant expansion and that the importance of Asian countries in the global shipbuilding industry is increasing.

With growth of 54.6% in national shipbuilding capacity and new ship orders increasing by 1.9 times that of 2009, Chinese shipbuilding reached its highest level in 2010. With support from the government, China has a solid foundation for remaining the world's major shipbuilding country. This is the first year of the "12th Five-Year Plan" during which "Ocean Engineering and Equipment" will be targeted for development by the Chinese government which will undoubtedly speed up the development of related industries. With tremendous support from the appropriate ministries of the Chinese government, as well as the recognition and reputation gained all over the world, Marintec China has enhanced its uniqueness in the industry and has become a truly international maritime event.

Positioned as one of Asia's most influential and important maritime conferences, the Senior Maritime Forum will be held from 29 - 30 November 2011 at the Kerry Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai. "Green Agenda, Innovation and Development" is the theme this year. Innovation and development with sustainability of greener products and services will definitely be the direction of the whole industry, and discussions are going to be more practical and competitive. Speakers and senior government officials attending the conference are all key representatives of the industry and the Forum will once again provide the best interactive platform for renowned speakers and attendees to communicate with and inspire each other. Forum speakers will provide attendees with the latest industry information and market insights.
