The Modern Trolley Car Highlights the Celebration
TIANJIN, China, Dec. 6 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- December 6, 2006 is the
22nd anniversary of the founding of TEDA. Unlike the lively ceremony held in
the past, the great day was highlighted by celebrating the availability of
the modern guided trolley. As the supporting parts of the modern guided
trolley project (reconstruction of the Dongting Road, Zhenhai Bridge and
Jingshan Bridge), TEDA’s “two bridges and one road” project is also
completed for use on the same day.

The modern guided trolley project and its supporting “two bridges and
one road” project will improve the transport environment in TEDA, help its
internal transport system, integrated with that of the Binhai New Area, and
promote communication between the New Area and urban areas, thus enhancing
its function as a carrier.
Three lines will be built, in three phases, under the modern guided
trolley project that will utilize the rubber-wheeled LRT, developed by Lohr
of France. This will represent an integration of the advantages of both
buses and wheel-track LRT, which is popular in Western Europe, but rare in
China. The new project will be characterized by its advantages including
energy saving, environmental protection, pollution free, low noise emissions,
convenient, fast and human oriented. With the track embedded into the ground
and the groove cushioned with high-tech rubber, the wheels make little
vibration and noise and generate little damage to the road surface when
running at high speeds.
