Ceremony for Laying the Foundation Stones of Lee Man Tat Bridge and Infinitus Bridge in Xinhui

HONG KONG, Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The rapid economic development of Xinhui District and Qibao has imposed mounting pressure on its infrastructure. In order to relieve the pressure, Lee Kum Kee agreed to donate RMB 68 million to the Xinhui authority in August for constructing two bridges named after Mr. Lee Man Tat and Infinitus. The signing of the agreement and the laying of the foundation stones for the two bridges took place yesterday (18th December 2011).

Ceremony for Laying the Foundation Stones of Lee Man Tat Bridge and Infinitus Bridge was held in Xinhui, Guangdong, China.

Guests attending the Ceremony included Jiangmen City CPPCC Party Member Mr. Deng Nong Le; Secretary of Xinhui District, Mr. Wei Zhi Ping; Chief of Xinhui District Government, Mr. Wu Pei Jin; Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat and his wife; Lee Kum Kee Group Directors Mr. Eddy Lee, Mr. David Lee, Mr. Charlie Lee and Mr. Sammy Lee; Lee Kum Kee Family Council Member Mrs. Elizabeth Mok; and the Lee Kum Kee management team and other dignitaries.

Secretary of Xinhui District, Mr. Wei Zhi Ping said at the ceremony, "Nan Tan and Qibao were two isolated islands separated by rivers in Xinhui before 1990s.  Local people found it inconvenient to travel to nearby areas. Compatriots who loved their hometown showed their support by donating funds to construct a number of bridges. Since then, the economy in Xinhui started to take off. Over a decade now, the area has become an industrial base for food products, health products, paper and paper products, as well as environmental business.  Today, Lee Kum Kee through Mr. Lee Man Tat has carried this fine tradition forward by donating RMB 68 million to build two more bridges named after Mr. Lee Man Tat and Infinitus."

He continued, "The completion of the Lee Kum Kee Bridge and Infinitus Bridge will further improve the investment environment here and contribute to our economic and social development."

Mr. Lee Man Tat, Group Chairman of Lee Kum Kee remarked, "Considering others' interests ('Si Li Ji Ren'), the core value of Lee Kum Kee, is not just a slogan. We have the responsibility and obligation to assist the authority in building the two bridges for the benefit of the community. We have also promised to donate RMB 8.5 million in order to support the authority in extending the roads from the intersection of Qibao to Chong Li Qiao, building teachers' dormitory for Lee Man Tat Secondary School, constructing Qibao Branch Building of Xin Cheng Hospital, and other infrastructure.  We will always bear in mind that as we gain through the expansion of our business, we also make contribution to the economic development of Xinhui and the motherland. We will continue to uphold the spirit of 'Si Li Ji Ren'and devotion to charity to make contribution to the community."
