Tyco Receives Gold Award at Prevention of False Alarm 2011

ADT, a brand of Tyco wins top prize in the largest subscriber base category

HONG KONG, Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ADT, a leader in alarm monitoring and a distinguished brand of Tyco is awarded the Gold award at the "Prevention of False Alarm 2011". In recognition of the achievements by the security industry, the Hong Kong Police Force is recognizing 12 security services companies who have achieved the lowest false alarm rate in the nation, based on their individual subscriber base.

Since 1989, the Crime Prevention Bureau of Hong Kong Police Force has implemented the Phased Response Scheme for Intruder Alarm Systems with the aim to improve operation efficiencies of security companies who are providing alarm monitoring as a service. Under this scheme, different levels of police response to intrusion alarm alerts were determined based on the number of false alarm generated in a given period of time.

In 2011, there were a total number of 12,504 false alarms, which represented a 6% decline when compared to the year before. The nation's overall false alarm rate was at 0.37 in 2011.
