Super 8 Hotels (China) Appointed to Olympic Village Accommodation Team

BEIJING, Jan. 21 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Super 8 Hotels (China) Co. Ltd. has been appointed by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad and the Beijing Tourism Bureau as a member of the “Beijing Olympic Village Accommodation Service Management Team.”

The appointment was formalized in a signing ceremony here last week attended by Mitchell A. Presnick, chairman and CEO of Super 8 Hotels (China) and officials from the Beijing Tourism Bureau, Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, Chinese Olympic Committee, China Hotel Association, and China Chain Store and Franchise Association.

Super 8 Hotels (China) will manage nine apartment buildings, three resident service centers and two service facilities within the Olympic Village during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, to be held Aug. 8 to 24.

In another Olympics-related development, the company announced that the Super 8(R) Hotel Beijing College Avenue has been designated as an “Official Hotel for Accommodating Olympic Games Spectators” by the Beijing Tourism Administration. Super 8 is the only economy hotel brand to date to win this designation.

Finally, the company noted that all Super 8(R) properties in Beijing have been designated by the Beijing Tourism Administration as a “Beijing Olympic Games Visitors Inspection-Free Lodging Brand”.
