China is a key element of our Asia strategy and we have always believed in the outstanding development of this market and the opportunities it offers for our company."

China's export market of textile and footwear products has enjoyed a steady growth throughout 2013, witnessing an increase in export share to the EU. However, updates of the technical regulations by EU and US authorities are driving up the market entry threshold. In particular, the increase in product recall incidents and anti-dumping cases in recent years have created more stringent requirements for Chinese manufacturers in terms of technology and regulation enforcement. Faced with such challenges, Chinese textile and footwear manufacturers must understand the updated regulations and standards of importing countries, improve their testing capabilities to reduce export risk, establish quality management systems and implement changes throughout the entire supply chain to develop stronger and trusted Chinese brands. As an independent third-party technical service organization, TUV SUD is able to promote its added value for Chinese textile and footwear products and help manufacturers enter the global market with higher quality standards, bringing advanced concepts from Europe and insights on global standards to China.

Mr. Dirk von Wahl, President & CEO of TUV SUD Greater China stated, "China has traditionally been a major exporter of textile and footwear products, particularly, the Fujian Province is of especial importance. In recent years, several influential industrial manufacturing centers have emerged in this region. The export share attributable to this region has maintained a steady growth throughout this year. These factors endow Fujian Province with a critical role in the textile and footwear industries in China, and in the rest of the world as well."

"The establishment of the Xiamen testing center aims to focus the development of industry segmentations with local features and advantages, and provide our clients with convenient and efficient testing services locally to significantly improve product quality. TUV SUD is delighted to do our part in facilitating the transformation and upgrading the China's manufacturing industry and consumer goods exports."

TUV SUD started its business in China with testing and certification services for export products.
