BEIJING, December 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- JD.com, a leading B2C e-commerce company in China, today discussed the company's achievements in 2013 and provided a roadmap for its 2014 business agenda. At a roundtable with Chinese journalists, Richard Liu, JD.com's founder and CEO, announced that the company expects to achieve gross merchandise value (GMV) of more than RMB 100 billion in 2013 and discussed five key areas of strategic importance for 2014: technology, the online-to-offline (O2O) business, financing, lower-tier city penetration and internationalization.

Mr. Liu commented, "JD.com had an outstanding 2013, with strong growth driving our annual sales over RMB 100 billion -- a remarkable 10,000-fold increase from our first year of operations and a two thirds increase from last year. We started JD.com in 2004 with the goal of providing users a better e-commerce experience, and 10 years later Chinese consumers are saying clearly that they appreciate our promise of authentic goods and unparalleled delivery through our self-operated national network."

Mr. Liu continued, "As we begin our second decade of operations, we have ambitious goals in 2014 for developing our technology, our O2O business, financing, lower-tier city penetration and the internationalization of the business with JD.com Global. We now have nearly half of China's direct B2C e-commerce business and almost 20 percent of the country's overall e-commerce market, and we expect this to continue to grow for JD.com. During 2013 we further strengthened our position as the e-commerce leader in reliable, fast delivery with JD.com's self-operated infrastructure, which provides same day delivery to many of our 140 million registered users and three-hour delivery in 6 cities in China."

JD.com is currently the biggest sales channel in China for mobile phones, computers, digital products and audio visual (media) products.
