RMB 200,000 Reward for Heirloom Jianshui Pottery Design

CHONGQING, China, April 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Competition for Heirloom Jianshui Pottery Design was officially launched in Kunming, Yunnan Province on 27th March. This competition, as part of the Yunnan Cultural Industries Expo 2014, is co-organized by the Cultural Industries Office of Yunnan, Zhubajie.com, the Yunnan Gazette, the Cultural Industries Office of Honghe, and Jianshui County Government. It is Yunnan's first large-scale cultural event aimed at a global audience.

RMB 200,000 Reward for Heirloom Jianshui Pottery Design

The purple pottery of Jianshui enjoys a long history and makes use of special techniques. It, together with potteries from Yixing (Jiangsu Province), Qinzhou (Guangxi Province), and Rongchang (Chongqing Municipality), are the most well-known potteries in China. The Cultural Industries Office of Yunnan, the main organizer of this competition, hopes to reignite interest in the cultural heirloom of Jianshui pottery, which symbolizes the values of patriotism, frugality, filial piety, and friendship.

Submissions to the competition are open from 27th March to 6th May. The total reward of RMB 200,000 is split among top three prizes to 65 winners. The winning designs will also be translated into actual potteries to be exhibited in the Yunnan Cultural Industries Expo this coming August.
