Under the agreement, effective April 26, 2026, Viettel Post will serve as FedEx's National Network Provider (NNP) in Vietnam. As part of the partnership, FedEx will leverage Viettel Post's nationwide logistics network, transportation fleet, and domestic infrastructure to better serve shipping demand in the Vietnamese market.

Viettel Post will undertake key operational roles including shipment pickup and delivery, first- and last-mile operations, warehousing, coordination of import–export customs clearance, and last-mile distribution.

Speaking at the partnership announcement ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said the cooperation is expected to contribute to strengthening Vietnam's logistics capacity and trade development. He noted that the partnership represents an important step toward more integrated and efficient supply chains.

According to Viettel Post, the combination of FedEx's global operational standards and Viettel Post's execution capability in Vietnam will help establish a large-scale cross-border logistics system aligned with international standards. The two sides plan to collaborate across key logistics services, including operations management, shipment collection, last-mile delivery, customs clearance, and warehouse operations at major aviation logistics hubs.

The partnership is expected to handle nearly 2 million shipments annually, with a total volume of more than 26,000 tons, connecting goods from Vietnam to over 220 countries and territories worldwide. The scale of cooperation is expected to contribute to strengthening Vietnam's cross-border logistics capacity and supporting businesses in accessing global markets.

Viettel began its international journey in 2006 with its first overseas investment in Cambodia. Over the past two decades, the Group has expanded its presence to 16 countries, including operational markets and representative offices.

Nowadays, Viettel operates telecommunications networks in 10 international markets, holding the No.1 market position in seven countries. The company's overseas operations generate more than USD 3 billion in annual revenue and have maintained average growth of around 20% for several consecutive years.

Financial results released earlier this year also reflect the strong momentum of Viettel's global business. According to audited financial statements from Viettel Global, international operations recorded net revenue of VND 44.27 trillion (approximately USD 1.74 billion) in 2025, representing 25% year-on-year growth and the highest level since Viettel began investing abroad.

Profitability also improved significantly. Net profit after tax reached VND 11.25 trillion (around USD 442 million), up 57% compared with the previous year, while profit attributable to the parent company rose 65% to over VND 9.3 trillion (approximately USD 365 million).

The strong performance has improved the efficiency of Viettel's international investments. By the end of 2025, the capital recovery ratio reached 92%, while the market capitalization of Viettel Global stands at approximately USD 10 billion. Overseas operations have also become a stable source of capital inflow to Vietnam, contributing USD 350–400 million in repatriated cash annually in recent years.

At the anniversary ceremony held on March 28, Viettel Global was awarded the prestigious Hero of Labour, one of Vietnam's highest state honors for organizations with outstanding achievements in innovation and productivity.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Politburo and Minister of National Defence, on behalf of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State said Viettel's international expansion demonstrates the company's pioneering spirit and its ability to master advanced technologies while transforming from a domestic telecom operator into a global technology enterprise. He added that Viettel's overseas presence also contributes to strengthening cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and its international partners.

According to Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, Viettel aims to continue expanding telecommunications services while developing new areas such as digital technology, high-tech industry, e-commerce and logistics. The Group targets minimum annual growth of 20% in its global operations.

After two decades abroad, Viettel is transitioning from a model focused primarily on overseas investment to a broader global business strategy known internally as "Go Global 2.0." This milestone marks a significant breakthrough for Viettel after two consecutive years in second place, officially securing the top global position in telecom brand strength. The result is considered notable, as it places a Vietnamese telecom operator ahead of many long-established international brands in terms of customer trust and brand perception.

According to Brand Finance, it is important to distinguish between brand value and brand strength, two concepts that are often confused. Brand value represents the financial worth of a brand, typically linked to revenue, profitability, and expected future growth. In contrast, brand strength reflects how customers perceive and engage with the brand. It measures factors such as trust, reputation, preference, and the likelihood of customers recommending the brand to others. Brand strength is assessed through extensive market research and is a key driver influencing overall brand value.

In the 2026 rankings, Viettel's BSI score of 89.9/100 is the highest recorded among leading telecom brands over the past three years. This demonstrates not only strong brand recognition but also a deep level of customer trust and emotional connection. Viettel's consistent performance across multiple perception metrics has enabled it to surpass competitors and take the top position globally.

Qualcomm will provide reference designs and technical support, while Viettel will lead the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of products featuring its Agentic AI software ecosystem.

The synergy between Qualcomm's premium hardware and Viettel's Agentic AI platform is expected to define a new generation of smart devices, serving as critical endpoints in the current 5G landscape and paving the way for the 6G era.

Viettel is currently a pioneer in the large-scale deployment of 5G and Open RAN technology. With this latest announcement at MWC Barcelona 2026, the company continues to solidify its role in shaping the global 6G technical platform through architecture research, core technology testing, and international standardization efforts.

On this occasion, Viettel also reached cooperation agreements with leading international technology partners including ST Engineering, Honeywell International Inc., Airbus, China Unicom, Truvisor, Jinsheng Henxing, Aeronautics, and Commvault Systems. For the first time, Vietnam is developing domestic chip fabrication capability, laying a foundation for the goal of gradually mastering core technologies and developing a domestic semiconductor ecosystem.

The plant will be built in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi) on an area of 27 hectares, oriented to become national infrastructure serving research, design, testing, and semiconductor chip production.

Once operational, the plant will be able to serve national industries such as aerospace, telecommunications, IoT, automotive manufacturing, medical devices, and automation, among others.

A complete semiconductor chip product typically goes through six main stages: product definition, system design, detailed design, chip fabrication, packaging and testing, and integration and testing. In recent years, Vietnam has gradually participated in five of these stages; however, chip fabrication—the most complex and critical stage—has not yet been possible domestically. Building a semiconductor chip fabrication plant will help complete and close the entire semiconductor chip production process in Vietnam.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: "The groundbreaking of Vietnam's first high-tech semiconductor chip fabrication plant is an event of particularly important significance. This is a step toward realizing the national semiconductor industry development strategy, creating a foundation for Vietnam to gradually participate more deeply in the global value chain, based on science, technology, and innovation."

According to the Prime Minister, the plant's presence will contribute to completing the domestic semiconductor ecosystem, enabling chip design companies, technology start-ups, and research institutions to shorten testing cycles, quickly finalize products, and bring technology into practical applications.

The plant is also expected to become a hands-on training center for the semiconductor workforce, linking training with a real production environment. Through this, Vietnam aims to train 50,000 chip design engineers under the Semiconductor Industry Human Resources Development Program through 2030, toward a scale of more than 100,000 people in Vietnam's semiconductor industry under the National Semiconductor Strategy through 2040.

For Viettel, being assigned to lead the implementation of the semiconductor chip fabrication plant continues the Group's core technology development strategy, which it has persistently pursued for many years. Viettel has proactively prepared human resources through in-depth training, international cooperation, and technology transfer, while also accumulating experience from research, design, and the application of chips in technology systems and products.

Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, affirmed: "Immediately after today's groundbreaking ceremony, the Group will begin implementing the project, with the set objective that by the end of 2027 we will complete the construction, receive technology transfer, and begin pilot production. The project will be implemented during 2026–2030, with a roadmap from plant construction and technology transfer to process completion and improved operational efficiency. In the long term, the Hoa Lac plant is planned to be expandable in scale, providing a foundation for Vietnam to gradually access more advanced semiconductor technologies.

The groundbreaking of the high-tech semiconductor chip fabrication plant marks an important milestone in Vietnam's journey to build technological capability, contributing to realizing the goal of "Technological self-reliance, Sustainable Future."

The project is jointly implemented with the goal of strengthening weather monitoring capabilities, enhancing operational efficiency, and reinforcing aviation service safety amid increasingly volatile and extreme weather conditions.

Viettel Software — a leading software technology unit in deploying safety-critical systems — has been selected by Vietnam Airlines as a partner in building a modern weather alert platform. The software platform will be capable of providing hazardous weather alerts, supporting impact assessments across flight phases, and enabling operations teams to quickly access accurate, targeted information. The solution will also be integrated into Vietnam Airlines' existing operational systems, ensuring seamless and efficient real-world deployment.

The partnership between Vietnam Airlines and Viettel Software is expected to accelerate the modernization of aviation operational technology infrastructure, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's aviation safety standards.

In the field of weather alert systems, in addition to its cooperation with Vietnam Airlines, Viettel Software is also expanding strategic collaboration with Weathernews Inc. (WNI) to bring the world's most advanced meteorological technologies into application in Vietnam. WNI is Japan's largest weather service company with global operations and over 50 years of experience providing weather-related risk information to a wide range of industries.

Through this strategic partnership, Viettel Software gains access to world-leading weather technologies, enabling localization and integration into weather alert platforms serving multiple sectors in Vietnam. Viettel began researching 5G core technologies in 2019. At this year's Globee Awards for Technology, Viettel received the most awards with 19 accolades (5 Gold, 7 Silver, 7 Bronze), surpassing IBM and Amazon at second place. Vietnam had five companies among the award winners.

The Globee Awards for Technology focuses on recognizing and honoring products and solutions in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, IT infrastructure, and sustainable development. Viettel's 5 Gold awards this year were for products that use advanced technologies to enhance user experiences, including the Reputa Data Analytics Platform, BTS Digital Twin Telecommunication Infrastructure Digitalization Solution, AGV Sorting Robot, Smart Logistics System, and the Telecommunication Network Infrastructure in Burundi.

Not only did Viettel achieve high rankings, but 17 of its 19 award-winning products were ranked first in their categories, confirming Viettel's technological capabilities and global competitiveness in the IT sector.

According to the organizers, the scoring and ranking process was conducted by over 3,500 technology experts worldwide. The products and technology services were ranked into Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories.

The operator's response was immediate and far-reaching. Within a day, its engineers deployed dozens of mobile broadcasting stations and activated backup systems, reviving network coverage in the heavily affected cities of Mandalay and Naypyitaw.

This effort was led by Mytel, a leading telecommunications provider in Myanmar and a brand of Viettel Group, known for its commitment to the nation's connectivity. By April 1, international connectivity was fully restored, and over 90% of the mobile network in the disaster zone was operational again, despite initial damage to more than 2,100 base stations. This rapid action kept essential communication lines open for residents and rescue teams.

Alongside technical efforts, the operator launched an emergency relief initiative within hours of the quake, offering over 4 million customers free access to 1GB of data, 300 call minutes, and 300 SMS messages to reconnect with loved ones and access vital updates. To counter widespread power outages, it set up over 500 mobile charging stations across affected regions. The company also distributed 10,000 meals and nearly 5 tons of food, with plans to expand aid in the coming days.

As Myanmar appealed for global support and international rescue teams arrived, the operator provided crucial assistance. It supplied nearly 1,000 SIM cards to responders, along with 20,000 additional SIMs and 100 Wi-Fi hotspots to streamline coordination. Five mobile base stations were deployed, and 46 existing sites were optimized to boost connectivity for field hospitals and search-and-rescue operations in Mandalay and Naypyitaw. Staff from the operator joined Vietnamese and international teams in hands-on recovery efforts.

A spokesperson emphasized the operator's commitment: "Our goal is to empower Myanmar's people through connectivity and support, especially in times of crisis." Rooted in a mission to advance the nation's socio-economic development, this mobile operator continues to play a pivotal role in Myanmar's resilience and recovery.

The School Internet Project is a non-profit initiative launched in 2008 to provide internet connectivity to 100% of educational institutions in Vietnam. To date, the program has provided free internet access to more than 46,000 educational institutions across 63 provinces and over 10 countries, especially in rural and remote areas.

As of 2024, the program has enabled 25 million students, teachers, and educators to access the internet, helping increase internet penetration in Vietnam from 15% to 85%.

HANOI, Vietnam, April 11, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Viettel Group opened Viettel Hoa Lac Data Center with a capacity of 30MW, the largest in Vietnam. Viettel deploys the latest technologies to build green data centers.

This is Vietnam's first DC designed with high capacity, twice the country average DC capacity, to meet the requirements for AI development and usage of high-performance chips.

With 60,000 servers, more than 2,400 racks, 21,000m2 of floor space and a total power capacity of 30MW, Viettel Hoa Lac Data Center becomes the largest data center in Vietnam today.

With the opening of the 14th DC, Viettel increased its total infrastructure capabilities to 230,000 servers, 11,500 racks, a total power capacity of 87MW. This continues to affirm Viettel's commitment to building a robust Vietnam digital infrastructure.

Viettel Hoa Lac DC holds many green certificates such as energy management standards, environmental impact management standards, and occupational safety and hygiene standards. This is also the first DC to commit to using renewable energy to meet 30% of electricity consumption.

Coefficient of performance of the Hoa Lac DC's chiller reached over 6.0, which is 40% higher than Vietnam industry standard. The Power usage effectiveness reaches 1.4 - 1.45, 12% lower than existing DCs in Vietnam. HSBC also certified Viettel Hoa Lac DC as eligible to receive sustainable financing.

The 2500-2600 MHz frequency band is allocated by the Ministry of Information and Communications for the deployment of mobile information systems according to 5G, 4G standards, and future technologies.

For Viettel, the 2500-2600 MHz band is of special importance as it is an efficient band for the deployment of both 4G and 5G mobile networks, thereby improving the quality of current 4G services and officially offering 5G services. This band also provides an optimal coverage radius 1.3 times greater than the C band (3500 MHz).

Viettel's success in the auction for the rights to use the radio frequency to deploy the 5G mobile network is a necessary condition for Viettel to keep pace with the global telecommunications technology trends, continue to develop the 4G network, and transition to 5G technology. Moreover, this is a pathway to promote the development of the national digital infrastructure, digital service ecosystem, creating new momentum for economic growth and productivity improvement. Currently, 5G devices researched and produced by Viettel are ready to be deployed on the 2500-2600 MHz band. Viettel plans to launch the national 5G network in the shortest possible time.

This year, Team Viettel brought a lineup of 16 Information Security (IS) experts to Pwn2Own Toronto 2023, with 75% of them belonging to the Gen Z generation. The white-hat hackers from VCS conducted penetration testing on various target devices, including mobile phones, three types of printers, smart speakers, SOHO Smash-up (small office equipment), and network storage devices. Team Viettel achieved a perfect score in all 7 categories, totaling 30 points, significantly ahead of the second-place team with 12.75 points, making them the convincing world champions.

Pwn2Own is a prestigious and the largest hacking competition in the world, organized annually by the Zero Day Initiative since 2007, often referred to as the World Cup of cybersecurity. In 2023, there were more than 20 participating teams from 17 countries. The VCS expert team has participated in Pwn2Own six times, and they ranked fifth in their very first attempt. Winning Pwn2Own 2023 further solidifies VCS's international reputation as a significant company in the field of information security, leaving a mark on the global cybersecurity map.

Before this achievement, VCS's IS experts had received recognition from the international community, cybersecurity rankings, and major technology companies such as Microsoft, Bugcrowd, Google, and more.
