Laser technology is considered one of the important inventions in the 20th century after atomic energy, the computer and semiconductor. Known as 'the fastest knife, 'the most precise ruler' and 'the brightest light', laser technology has been widely used in metal processing, iron & steel, aerospace, automobile, medical equipment and other manufacturing fields. Attention to Laser technology has been revitalized in recent years as an impetus to industrial transformation of traditional manufacturing towards high-end manufacturing. With the proposal of the Made in China 2025, it is predicted that China's laser industry will have an average annual increase rate of 10% -15% during 2016-2025 strongly pushing China into the Era of Laser Manufacturing.

After the downturn in 2012-2013, the uncooled infrared imager market has entered into its growth period again and fulfilled shipment increase by 30% and the revenue by 7% in 2014. In the following 5 years, the shipment of uncooled infrared imagers will reach a compound annual increase rate of 23%, which means there will be 1.5 million sets in 2020. The three main application markets of thermal imaging, automobile and monitoring will drive the stable increase of shipment.

In addition, the concurrent Optoelectronics Global Conference (OGC 2016) and the 1st Executive Infrared Imaging Forum-From Niche to Large Volume Applications will take place alongside the Laser and Infrared Applications Expo. The entire conference offering will gather global authoritative experts, profound scholars and famous enterprises, technicians, R&D personnel of the industry to discuss the innovative development and prospective of laser & infrared and technologies in the new era.
