MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its ongoing analysis of the video conferencing camera market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Altia Systems® with the 2016 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation. Altia Systems' PanaCast® 2 enables customers that invest in professional-grade video collaboration solutions to deploy high-quality peripherals at affordable prices. PanaCast 2 is compatible with popular on-premises or cloud-based video conferencing services to accelerate the deployment of low-cost Huddle rooms to make video collaboration accessible to everyone.

The PanaCast 2's Panoramic-4K 180 degree-wide field of view enhances the user experience by presenting unobstructed range of vision. Most USB cameras have a narrower field of view, which prevents remote participants from seeing all of the meeting participants at the same time. This causes them to lose context and prevents them from reading body language. There are alternative cameras with active speaker tracking capabilities; however, these are prohibitively expensive and restricted to use with proprietary systems. In contrast, PanaCast 2 is an excellent, flexible option to enhance meeting experiences at scale across varied meeting environments.

PanaCast 2 is a compact, plug-and-play USB 2.0/3.0 connected device for Windows and Mac, requiring no downloads or drivers. It can be wall mounted, ceiling mounted, set atop a desktop or table, or installed at optimal height on a conference table or desk. As it does not need IT intervention, PanaCast 2 works out of the box with Skype for Business/Lync, Skype, WebEx, Citrix GoToMeeting, Google Hangouts, Zoom Conferencing, and other popular collaboration platforms. Additionally, Altia Systems extends the PanaCast Experience Service to every meeting participant, enabling them to personalize and control their individual view, while delivering capabilities such as 4.1 megapixel video, zoom, and panoramic view from any PanaCast 2 camera in the meeting.

"The PanaCast 2 has an innovative design that enhances both visual appeal and ease of use," said Frost & Sullivan Principal Analyst, Robert Arnold. "In its compact form, Altia Systems has packed three miniaturized cameras and the PanaCast Processor, which simultaneously processes three video streams for real-time dynamic stitching and rendering for a 180 degree-wide, 54 degree-high field of view. This task is performed by nine processors that can process almost 300 million pixels and deliver a 32:9 aspect ratio."

Support for 4K video is a rarity for cameras designed for business video conferencing—it is a technology more commonly found in consumer camcorders and digital single-lens reflex cameras (DSLR) and expensive professional production quality motion picture video cameras. PanaCast 2's features easily outclass less expensive business-grade video conferencing models and at half the cost of cameras with competitive components and functionality support.

PanaCast 2 allows companies to make the most of the latest capabilities available with advanced visual collaboration systems and services, including features such as:

  • Dynamic, five millisecond, real-time stitching and rendering of three HD video streams
  • Electronic digital zoom
  • Five user-defined cropping presets and host control
  • Up to 4.1 megapixel output

"Due to PanaCast 2's support for emerging 4K video, buyers will own a future-proof asset," noted Arnold. "PanaCast 2 works with standards-based video conferencing infrastructure and services from leading providers. As a result, customers do not need to make significant capital investments or rip and replace anything."

Altia Systems has demonstrated a deep understanding of customer needs in the video conferencing camera market and developed an innovative product to address those needs. Its PanaCast 2 addresses the core issues of quality, functionality, and reliability and is; therefore, poised for significant success.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed an innovative element in a product by leveraging leading-edge technologies. The award recognizes the value-added features/benefits of the product and the increased return on investment (ROI) it offers customers, which, in turn, improves customer acquisition and overall market penetration potential.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
