PETALING JAYA, Malaysia, March 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hospice is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) which provides Palliative Care services for people with serious illnesses like cancer. In conjunction with the Malaysian Hospice Council Congress 2016, GetDoc Foundation and GetDoc wish to raise funds for the Malaysian Hospice Council.

Palliative care provides relief to patients suffering from a life-limiting illness, primarily through pain management and other symptom management. Funds raised will help to provide better care, professional advice, to relieve pain and to support the families of cancer patients. Palliative care offers a support system which includes professional medical advices and equipment to help patients live as actively as possible until death.

In the course of our daily lives, we may have been affected by terminal diseases such as cancer or have someone we love be afflicted by cancer. Without any cure in sight, on a short term basis, patients can only opt for palliative care to alleviate their pain and enhance their quality of life.

With the Malaysian Hospice Council Congress 2016 coming up in April this year, GetDoc has decided to go the extra mile in helping to spread the importance of Palliative Care as well as to reach out to more cancer patients and the public. GetDoc has always been on the move into enriching the medical healthcare experience for everyone regardless of their life backgrounds. We want Palliative Care to be KNOWN to many; we are here to EDUCATE because we CARE.

GetDoc Foundation's pledge funding cause will see GetDoc raising a total of RM 4,000.00. GetDoc will donate RM 0.50 to the Malaysian Hospice Council every time an individual downloads and registers as a user on the GetDoc application.

The GetDoc mobile application is currently available on both Android and iOS software. The GetDoc Foundation will also be pledging funds for Hospice through a crowdsourcing website in order to achieve the fundraising target. The collected funds aim to lessen the financial burden faced by the council, as well as to purchase amenities which would help the palliative care process run more smoothly.

The Pledge Funding event would last until April 15th 2016, aiming to increase the awareness of palliative care to the public.
