BERLIN, Sept. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

Numerous startups such as Otto, Aquarius Engines, Trucknet, GreenQ, Re2you, vimcar at the IAA /Hackathon "Hack.IAA" by DigitalLife@Daimler

For the first time startup companies are being given a chance to present their ideas for traffic, mobility and logistic solutions and establish contacts with the commercial vehicle industry at IAA Commercial Vehicles. This will be possible during the "New Mobility World Lab16 - Startups meet Industry" event on 27 September 2016 at the 66th IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover. The international startups include Otto from the USA, Aquarius Engines, Trucknet and GreenQ from Israel, and Re2you and vimcar from Germany. NMW Lab16 brings established players and startups together. In addition, the hackathon "Hack.IAA" by DigitalLife@Daimler will also be held within the framework of NMW Lab 16.

The range of the participating startups is wide. For example, Aquarius Engines from Israel has developed a generator that works distinctly more cleanly and efficiently than conventional equipment and which can be used, for instance, as a range extender. Otto from California is working on technologies for self-driving trucks. For this the company has developed a set consisting of sensors, software and extensions with which truck driving on the highway is to be automated.

Argus specialises in IT security solutions and services for protecting networked automobiles and commercial vehicles against cyber attacks. Re2you offers software solutions with which data and apps can be harmonised across different operating systems and end devices. This allows manufacturers to place the automobile at the centre of a user's digital equipment.

Big Data, RFID and route optimising for waste collection - these are the themes on which GreenQ focuses, with a view to optimising solid waste disposal. Trucknet makes it possible to offer and use spare cargo space better via a cloud-based system. vimCar will be presenting solutions such as an electronic driver's logbook with which company vehicles can be controlled more efficiently and cost-effectively. Altogether around 25 startups will be presenting their ideas and business models.

VDA Managing Director Dr. Kay Lindemann will open NMW Lab16. After his welcome address, Professor Dr. Thorsten Posselt, Institute Director of the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy will give a keynote speech on innovation and technology management. Spread throughout the day, there will then be three sessions at which eight to ten startups can present themselves in brief pitches, followed by opportunities for intensive exchanges and networking. The presenter will be Holger G. Weiss, who has founded startups himself.

The partner of this event is the Bundesverband Deutsche Startups e.V. (German Startup Association), which is sending selected German mobility startups to Hanover. The parastatal Israeli innovations agency Ecomotion is also involved, bringing Israeli firms to Hanover. The Startupbootcamp Berlin, an accelerator for Smart Transportation, is seconding in particular young startups to present their pitch.

At the hackathon "Hack.IAA" by DigitalLife@Daimler, students will work over a 24 hour period on ideas and IT solutions for the topics "smart logistics" and "user experience". They will present their results live on the stage at NMW Lab16. Markus Hägele, Head of DigitalLife, Daimler AG, will explain the hackathon and the results. Alongside the partners in cooperation already mentioned, Car-IT will be supporting NMW Lab16 as media partner.

The "New Mobility World Lab16 - Startups meet Industry" will take place on Tuesday, 27 September 2016, from 10.00 to 17.00 h in Hall 19, Room New York, at the IAA in Hanover. Tickets cost EUR 99 for participants. Admission to the NMW Lab16 is free for media representatives.
