SURABAYA, Indonesia, Feb. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) has again won awards in the manpower sector. The four awards, given by the East Java Provincial Government, are Platinum Award for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Mitigation in the Workplace, Zero Accident Award, Work Safety and Health Management System Award (K3 Management System) and a special Award for Sampoerna's Bipartite Cooperation (LKSB) which received First Place in the Manpower Sector at Provincial Level.
The Awards were directly handed by East Java Deputy Governor Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) at the East Java Manpower Awarding Event held on Tuesday (21/2/2017). Gus Ipul said, "We congratulate, appreciate, and respect companies who have won the awards. Hopefully they can improve their performance."
In his speech, Gus Ipul also stated that in 2016, there are 7,017 accidents at workplaces in East Java. He said, "Our homework is to minimize the accidents. We hope, more companies will follow the procedures, and implement a proper work safety management."
Sampoerna's commitment is in line with the East Java provincial administration's focus to prevent HIV/AIDS and accidents at workplaces, and Sampoerna is the only Indonesian company that has consecutively won the Zero Accident Award since 1999.
In 2016, the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) recorded Sampoerna as an Indonesian company with the highest working hours and zero accident for 20 years (period of 1996 - 2016), which was 757,000,000 hours.

Sampoerna's LKSB also won the first prize in the Manpower Sector at Provincial Level. The establishment of LKSB is a form of Sampoerna's support to facilitate positive activities for employees by forming a communication forum for workforce and complying with obligations in accordance with Manpower and Transmigration Minister's Regulation.
The achievement was a result of a collaboration with various parties, namely the management, Sampoerna's LKSB, Sampoerna's Work Safety and Health Department, as well as Industrial Employee Relations Department.
