The strategic partnership demonstrates Sunway's long term commitment in developing the Japanese outbound market. "This will further strengthen Sunway's presence and look forward to leverage of the extensive network Mac Marketing Service has in Japan; and to develop new opportunities from untapped segments like the senior travellers and student groups," said Albert Cheong, CEO of Sunway Hotels & Resorts. "Recognising that growth from this market will remain moderate in the short term but it will still be a major source market that requires maintenance of marketing and promotional activities," Albert added.

"We are honored to lead Sunway Hotels & Resorts' initiatives to grow its footprint in the Japan travel market. Our partnership will help expand Sunway's network as we tap into the targeted wholesale leisure, tour series, incentive and corporate segments from Tokyo, Osaka and foster opportunities in second-tier Japanese cities," said Matsui Yoichi, Managing Director of Mac Marketing Service. A recognised brand name in Japan as a pioneer in hotel representation, Matsui brings close to four decades of deep industry insights and extensive network amongst Japan's travel industry, particularly in developing market opportunities for South East Asia based hotels and resorts.

The untapped Japanese market serves as a huge potential for Sunway's 5-star luxury natural wellness hot springs destination, The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat in Ipoh, Malaysia; a wellness resort surrounded by tropical jungle, natural geothermal hot springs, a cluster of magnificent 260 million year-old limestone hills and 45 luxury villas.
