BEIJING, Dec. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Beijing Geoenviron Engineering and Technology (XSHG: 603588) is seeking to deepen cooperation on the development of green technology with counterparts in Belgium as China is looking forward to spurring more deliveries of environmental-friendly technologies through its new Belt and Road initiative.

During a visit to the headquarters of Beijing Geoenviron Engineering and Technology Inc (BGE), a leading player in the industry that provides advanced pollution prevention and treatment solutions in China, Peter Christiaen, the Trade & Investment Counsellor at Embassy of Belgium in Beijing, told engineers that Belgium is also seeking to strengthen cooperations with China, including in the field of environmental-friendly technologies through China's Belt and Road Initiative, an extensive infrastructure and market-building plan that aims to link Asia and the Middle East and Europe.

Mr. Christiaen also shared the anti-pollution experience Belgium has gained in the past decades and expressed his confidence in China's efforts after having witnessed the progress by the Chinese government and companies in environmental protection.

The visit by Mr. Christiaen came as green technology providers from China and Belgium gathered in Beijing for an industrial seminar on Wednesday.

Mr. Christiaen said the visit is an opportunity for him to expand opportunities for cooperations between Belgian companies and BGE.

The two sides had a deep discussion about the industrial development in domestic waste treatment and water treatment in China.

Hu Yunzhong, the deputy general manager of BGE, said that as a highly developed country, Belgium has accumulated rich experience in environmental protection, especially in the waste sorting and recycling, and such experiences could benefit China, which is undergoing a fast-growing economic growth and an enormous green shift in industries.

As a key player in the industry and a platinum member of International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), BGE has worked on over 1,000 successful cases in environmental protection area in China.

Such cooperation with Belgian partners, Hu said, could also help BGE to build up its brand in the international market and make a contribution to global environmental protection.
