KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- UEM Edgenta Berhad ("UEM Edgenta") has bagged the 2016 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Facilities Management Company of the Year award.

The award was presented to UEM Edgenta at the 12th annual Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Excellence Awards ceremony, held at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.

"The Malaysian facilities management market is highly competitive and has a low barrier to entry. UEM Edgenta has excelled in the market by positioning itself as a holistic and integrated facilities management, total assets solutions provider," said Mr. Jonathan Leong, Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan.

He added that across various industries, UEM Edgenta has grown into a formidable market participant and leader -- holding approximately 25% market share -- in a market that is highly fragmented. He noted that the company has secured and renewed multiple contracts worth over RM 4.7 billion for the period of 2014 to 2015.

"Despite a competitive market, UEM Edgenta has been successful in the local facilities management industry. It is continuously innovating and improving its proficiency and expertise in facilities management service delivery. Most importantly, UEM Edgenta has maintained a commendable track record in client retention and satisfaction," Mr. Leong said.

He added that UEM Edgenta's strong presence will contribute to the local facilities management market development. "Facilities management customers will also benefit from UEM Edgenta's premise as a one-stop solutions provider," he said.

Receiving the award on behalf of UEM Edgenta was its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Azmir Merican.

"To be recognised for two years running by Frost & Sullivan, where last year we were conferred with the Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Integrated Facilities Management Competitive Strategy Innovation and Leadership Award, is indeed an honour. It is also a testament of our unrelenting drive to achieve high performance standards, to further expand the breadth and depth of our services.

"To be acknowledged as the best in one's home country makes it even more special and this recognition would definitely drive and inspire us to continue in our transformation journey to be the leader in Total Asset Solutions not just in Malaysia but in the region," said Azmir.

2015 has been a remarkable year for UEM Edgenta as it achieved several strategic wins. A key development is the set-up of Edgenta Energy Services Sdn Bhd (Edgenta Energy Services) to offer a comprehensive energy management solution.

"As building owners consistently face rising energy costs coupled with the difficulty of optimising the various M&E systems in their buildings, our advanced and innovative energy management solutions will enable commercial and industrial clients to optimise the energy performance of their premises and lower their carbon footprint, translating into reduced asset management costs."

Azmir went on to explain about remote monitoring systems which leverages on real time monitoring software to capture critical data and translate them into useful actionable output for quick decision making.

"This unique and advanced system integrates various hardware to deliver information to the data manager which is then transmitted to the central station for real-time monitoring and analysis. The application of this system will enable us to detect and rectify any anomaly thus reducing the operational costs for clients and also optimising energy consumption.

"Our Malaysian clients are increasingly interested in adopting intelligent building control systems, fault detection, predictive diagnostics, big data analytics, and remote correction on the cloud to achieve energy efficiency for their assets and to date, we have successfully implemented Energy Management Systems at 33 government hospitals," he added.
