Young Leaders from 46 Countries Take Part in the Asian Pacific Youth Dialogue Held in Chengdu

BEIJING, Sept. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Asian Pacific Youth Dialogue was held in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China on September 21, 2016. With the full support of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government, the Global Youth Leaders Laboratory, Taihe Global Institute and Beijing China Today International Culture Development Co., Ltd., the forum was jointly organized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO and the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA), and co-organized by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Perfect World Education & Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

Nearly 200 young leaders-in-the-making from 46 countries across the Asia Pacific region gathered together to discuss a wide range of topics including the diversity of Asian culture and an approach to building a peaceful world, the role of civilization in promoting peace, how to build peace in the digital era, gender-based violence and a harmonious society, as well as social development among today's youth, during the three-day event.

The takeaways from the Dialogue will be presented in a session entitled "Voice of Asia Youth - Suggestions from Asian Pacific Youth Dialogue" at the Asian Civilizations Dialogue Forum (ACDF) and the 10th UNESCO Youth Forum.

The forum received a great deal of attention from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and several Asian Pacific countries. Representatives from the United Nations, the Chinese government and several Chinese companies, including Hao Ping, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education of China, Chairman and Director of the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO; Du Yue, Secretary-General of the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO; Dr. Marielza Oliveira, Director and UNESCO Representative to the People's Republic of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Mongolia and the Republic of Korea; Dr. Dhirendra Bhatnagar, Chairman of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA); Li Yanrong, President of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Yang Wei, Senior Counselor of Chengdu Municipal Government; and Dr. Robert H. Xiao, CEO of Perfect World Co. Ltd attended the forum and spoke at the opening ceremony.

Attendees encouraged young people across the Asia Pacific region to pay close attention to world developments and to build a consensus of civilization with a strong sense of purpose and to play a leading role in the mission of creating a community for the common destiny of mankind.
