HONG KONG, May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Apart from promoting the three main themes "Music & Dance", "Arts & Culture" and "Community Engagement", Youth Square has also been devoted to enhancing youth's understanding towards Chinese culture, such as organising exchange camps, Dunhuang exhibition and learning trips, etc. 2017 marks the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, Youth Square has launched the"CULTURE @MAZE Creating and Sharing-China - A Spiritual Land for All Chinese" photo exhibition co-presented with Nationality Pictorial Press. Nearly 130 precious photos will be exhibited to reveal the richness and uniqueness of lifestyle and culture of Chinese ethnic minorities, so as to enhance the youth's understanding of the country and recognition to their national identity.

The opening ceremony was held on 23 May 2017 and it was honoured to have various official guests to inaugurate the photo exhibition, they have opened the scroll with photos of different ethnic minorities in China, which represents the official launch of the photo exhibition. The officiating guests were: Ms Florence Hui, SBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home Affairs Bureau, Mr Wang Feng Yu, Department of Youth Affairs, Liaison Office of The Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Ms Doris Luey, Executive Director of Youth Square, Ms Wu Cuiying, Director General of the Department of Culture and Publicity for The State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China, Ms Yu Hui, Deputy Chief Editor of Nationality Pictorial Press, Mr Chen Junyuan, Representative of the Association for the Promotion of Chinese Ethnic Unity, Ms Xie Suqi, and President of Guangzhou Baiyun Overseas Friendship Association. The launch was also supported by Mr Lau Siu Ming, Vice President, Hong Kong Dance Federation, Mr Ambrose Cheung Wing Sum, Chairman of the Sham Shui Po District Council, representative of Education Bureau and university professor.

Under Secretary for Home Affairs Bureau Ms Florence Hui said, "Chinese culture is broad and profound, Youth Square and Nationality Pictorial Press brought precious Chinese cultural photos to Hong Kong youth coinciding with the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR in this beautiful year. The photo exhibition is expected to encourage the youth to admire the alluring mountains and rivers in China, and broaden their horizons."

Director General of the Department of Culture and Publicity for The State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China Ms Wu Cuiying stated that the photo exhibition reveals the spirit of the homeland of Chinese culture. "We hope Hong Kong people can understand more about the culture of the ethnicities in their motherland, to think and join with all ethnic groups to become a more cohesive community."

"China - A Spiritual Land for All Chinese," photo exhibition will be exhibited between 23 May and 30 June featuring the culture and life of Chinese ethnic groups. Photos are categorised into four aspects, namely "Life - The Taste of Home", "Labor - Make a Living", "Live - Ceremonies and Rituals" and "Communication and Exchanges - Homeland", to showcase the fascinating, diversified and unique culture of Chinese ethnic groups. The exhibition is now open to public at 1/F Youth Square.
