GUIYANG, China, May 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- In recent years, cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence have grown into new engines that drive the global economic development. Starting from zero, Guizhou, a province in southwest China, has now set an example for the development of the big data industry.

As an official media partner of the 2019 Big Data Expo, Huanqiu.com was invited by the local government to explore the development of big data industry and its influence on the city. During an interview with Huanqiu.com, Chen Yan, the mayor of Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, noted that Guiyang has been promoting innovation and entrepreneurship by embracing big data and the in-depth application of the technology.

Since the three major Chinese telecommunication companies including China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom placed their cloud computing and big data centers in Guiyang in 2013, Guizhou province has achieved nine "firsts" of the country in the big data sector.

It was the first to introduce the national big data comprehensive pilot zone, the first in the world to hold a big data expo, the first to raise the concept of "block data" and establish a big data platform in this regard, the first to set up a national-level big data agglomeration, the first to build a big data exchange, the first to hold big data business and entrepreneur competitions, the first to be approved for the big data industrial technology innovation pilot zone, the first to issue local regulation on big data, and the first to establish the National Big Data Engineering Laboratory.

In just five years, 7 of the top 10 internet companies including Apple Inc. and Qualcomm have established branches in Guizhou. In addition, the largest data center in Asia built by Apple Inc, the China-India IT Industry Cluster District, the big data training base and the phase-1 project of the Tencent data center are all highlights of the bid data development of Guizhou.

The 2019 China International Big Data Industry Expo is scheduled to kick off on May 26. Focusing on "innovative development and digital future", the expo will hold "One Summit", "One Exhibition", "One Release" and "Serial Competitions and Activities".
