TAIPEI, , March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- British Council Taiwan is pleased to announce its expansion in IELTS test venue coverage with the launch of a new venue in Kinmen, which will be in service from 6 April. Situated in the south-eastern coast of mainland China, Kinmen is a very convenient and accessible location for the inbound and cross-border test takers.

British Council Taiwan is offering all Kinmen candidates a one-day test service. Test takers can take all test components on the same day and return home in the afternoon. Administration is also easy as the ferry trip to Kinmen from Xiamen, China takes less than an hour and visa upon arrival can be issued on the test day for cross border test-takers.

The new Kinmen venue is situated in National Kinmen Senior High School. Its spacious campus and quiet surroundings make it an ideal test-taking environment.

The test fee will remain at NTD7,000 for Kinmen test takers, which is the cheapest option available in Kinmen for the IELTS test.

IELTS is one of the world's most popular high-stakes English language tests, with over 3.5 million tests taken in the past year, and is recognised by more than 10,000 universities, schools, employers and immigration bodies, including all universities in Australia and the UK and many of the leading institutions in the USA.

IELTS offers a choice of two tests, to serve both academic and non-academic purposes. IELTS Academic measures English language proficiency needed for an academic, higher learning environment. The tasks and texts are accessible to all test takers, irrespective of their subject focus. IELTS General Training measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. The tasks and texts reflect both workplace and social situations. IELTS General Training is suitable for immigration purposes to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom and Ireland.
