SINGAPORE, April 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Durapower Technology, a Singapore homegrown lithium battery company with an international presence, has secured a major contract worth over SGD10 million from PSA Corporation Limited to provide battery storage solutions to the port operator's Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) fleet at its new Tuas Mega Port.

This contract is another vote of confidence for Durapower which focuses on research, design, manufacturing of advanced battery technologies, and energy storage system solutions.

"We are extremely proud to emerge as the winner of this tender which was participated by numerous major international battery companies. This is a true testament of our superior product performance, technologies and business philosophy which had been proven with PSA Singapore and many other major clients in the world. Durapower firmly believes and commits to a long-term relationship with PSA to jointly create a greener environment through its sustainable, smart and clean energy solutions," said Kelvin Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Durapower Group of Companies.

This is not the first cooperation between the two companies. Durapower has been playing a main role in PSA's green mega port initiatives since 2012 when it took part in the first pilot test of hybrid AGV operations at the PSA port. In 2016, Durapower provided the automated high-power fast charging infrastructure for PSA's first pilot test of full electric AGV fleet.

Durapower has successfully grown from strength-to-strength since its humble beginning of providing battery solutions to a fleet of 30 hybrid electric buses in China in 2011. To date, the company has successfully powered fleets of thousands of electric vehicles ranging from buses, trucks, cars, and 2- and 3-wheelers around the world including China, European countries, Japan, India and many parts of Southeast Asia.

One of the company's most remarkable achievements includes being the sole battery supplier to the inaugural fleet of full electric buses that operates in the city of Eindhoven, Netherlands since 2015.

Besides the current market segments, Durapower is also expanding its stationary Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) portfolio covering telecommunication power infrastructures, micro grids and smart grids in Asia and Europe.

The company has also been active in supporting the local and global renewable energy ecosystem and is a key player in providing end to end solutions, from the research, design and manufacturing of battery cells, to system integration and end of life recycling. Aligning with the Singapore government's drive towards becoming a Zero Waste nation by finding ways to reduce consumption of materials and reusing and recycling them to enable a second lease of life, Durapower has also recently signed a Letter of Intent to work on recycling of lithium batteries through the NTU-CEA Joint Lab that operates under the auspices of the Singapore CEA Alliance for Research in Circular Economy (SCARCE).
