More than 500 exhibiting companies from over 20 countries take part in the 31st edition of this international exhibition, that is set to attract more than 13,000 potential buyers, professionals, and industry leaders. The opening ceremony was opened by H.E. Taufik Bawazier, Director of Downstream Chemical Industry from Indonesian Ministry of Industry.

"Packaging plays a vital role for food and beverages industry. Thus, we connect hundreds of plastics and rubber industry professionals to speed up sustainable packaging, through its material development and process innovation," said Wiwiek Roberto, Project Director of Pamerindo Indonesia, as organizer of the exhibition.

Recycling innovation and biodegradable plastics (BDP) are among the most effective ways to reduce waste through the use of plastics. Henky Wibawa, Executive Director of Indonesian Packaging Federation (IPF) added, "Retailers will never remove packaging from its process, As it is created to keep products safe for consumption. What we need to improve is how to innovate the sustainable process, through plastic use, waste management, and viable plastic alternatives."

During the expo, all visitors will also have access to seminar sessions led by key industry associations, including Indonesian Plastics Recyclers (IPR), Indonesian Packaging Federation (IPF), Association of Indonesian Soft Drink Producers (ASRIM), and Komunitas Printing Indonesia (KOPI). They will talk about trends, challenges, and opportunities for lifecycle and plastic recycling for better packaging systems.

"The biggest challenge facing the packaging industry is creating eco-friendly packaging to help solve the global sustainability issue and plastics waste. Building knowledge to improve workforce is highly required, hence the industry will continuously keep up with innovations and intelligent packaging," said Triyono Prijosoesilo, Chairman of ASRIM.

According to a research by a worldwide authority on packaging, Smiters Pira, there are tech categories needed to achieve greater packaging sustainability. They include innovative raw materials, barrier materials or multilayers combinations of plastics through flexible packages, as well as the use of Near Infrared (NIR) sorting. To share these insights on key technologies changing in plastics and printings, exhibitors such as Benua Kencana Makmur and Kawata Marketing Indonesia plastics machinery, as well as ARBURG plastics processing and Bilplast Grapindo packing materials will also conduct seminar session during the four-day expo.

Being held from November 14-17, 2018, such plastics and packaging innovations will be displayed during the exhibitions, alongside advanced plastic and rubber equipment to accelerate materials processing and pre-processing for optimized results.
