Iyo Iwata Management Says Japanese Yen Steady Ahead of BOJ Report

2019-01-22 20:44 1465

OSAKA, Japan, Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Iyo Iwata Management research and analysis department has noted that the popular trading pair USD/JPY has started off in a steady calm pace this week while the Bank of Japan (BOJ) releases its rate statement today.

Investors have already received weak data on Monday with China releasing its official revised GDP numbers. China, being the world's second largest economy, is expected to continue its growth and expansion. However, GDP figures reveal that an economic slowdown could be incurred.

Iyo Iwata Management said that the GDP figures were 6.6% in the fourth quarter compared to 6.5% in its latest quarter report. The decrease is due to a sharp decline in demand from its manufacturing sectors.

"With The Bank of Japan determined to uphold its monetary policy unchanged later today, its economy has continued to show positive signs of growth with little pressure to increase its interest rates due to weak inflation," Yamamura Shiro, Financial Trader at Iyo Iwata Management.

Japanese policymakers have key issues to address, including the global trade war that is developing, a slowing Chinese economy, and potential new trade deals with the United Kingdom as it prepares to leave the European Union.

"The export and manufacturing industry has taken a slight hit over the last few months, and if leading economies such as China continue to experience lower growth, it could spell for a recession," added Hashi Seiichi, Head of Research & Analysis at Iyo Iwata Management.

With low interest rates for such a long time, financial companies and institutions have as a result seen lower overall profits, some have been reported to make lenient loans to retrieve lost profits.
