RSPO CEO Datuk Darrel Webber said, "As more stakeholders join our efforts, we aim to build a platform that can bring more Chinese companies together to make sustainable palm oil the norm in the China market. With the launch of the Alliance, we hope that RSPO can create greater opportunities for Chinese stakeholders to participate in global dialogues."

Mr. Zhou Fei, Head of TRAFFIC China and the WWF's wildlife trade programme, said, "The unsustainable cultivation of palm oil will bring a series of environmental and deforestation problems to the producing countries. By launching the Alliance today, we are calling for all stakeholders in the palm oil value chain to join our new platform and make pro-active commitments and take action to accelerate the pace of transforming markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm."

China is the second-largest importer and third-largest consumer of palm oil. The RSPO is seeing very positive momentum towards its vision for China to achieve 10% CSPO uptake by 2020, with its Chinese membership having surged in the past few years.

The launch of the Alliance by the CFNA, RSPO and WWF will not only heighten awareness among key stakeholders about the RSPO and the value of driving sustainability in the palm oil industry, but also encourage more Chinese companies to participate in transforming global markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm.
