HO CHI MINH, Vietnam, May 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Vietnam Science and Technology Day in May has been celebrated since 2014 and the 2019 occasion witnessed huge activities both from the government and supporting forces. Notably the international conference "Science, Technology, and Innovation as a Pillar for Socio-Economic Development in Vietnam" in Hanoi, Vietnam marked the first national think tank activities opened for discussion between global participants. Startup Vietnam Foundation (SVF), the first and only Socialized and Non-profit Foundation to support open innovation ecosystem in Vietnam, was one of the key contributors in the National Innovation System session, hosted by Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the conference, together with major leaders from the government, relevant ministries, provinces, international donors and partners. Together with experiences and suggestions from these experts, the think tank pushed forward the valuable initiatives to contribute to Vietnam's Digital Strategy 2020 - 2035. Remarkably, Vietnam's Future Digital Economy research presented at the conference was the result of cooperation between the Australian CSIRO/Data61 and MoST.

As Vietnam continues its remarkable journey of development from one of the poorest countries in the world 30 years ago to one of the most dynamic countries in the East Asia region, it will be imperative for a wide range of stakeholders to work together to ensure this latest wave of technological possibility becomes a force for good in progressing. As the open innovation ecosystem builder, SVF further commits to dedicate its resources to support ecosystems, empower technology development, and connect investments from the global and local networks.

"50 full-time experts, and hundreds of partners and advisors helped SVF to directly engage and impact to 25 different cities / provinces and 10,000 entrepreneurs / startup founders in the last five years. We are connected by a big, but very simple dream. We aspire to mark Vietnam on the global map of science, technology and open innovation. And that all starts with bringing our local talents to the best of their potentials and triggering their united passion for the country's good." - shared Mr. Pham Duy Hieu - Vice Chairman of SVF.
