Wins Four Major Awards, including "Flat Panel TV Industry Outstanding Achievement Decade Award"
HONG KONG, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Multimedia", or the "Group", Stock code: 01070) today announces that the Group has received the "Flat Panel TV Industry Outstanding Achievement Decade Award" and "Best Industry Contribution Award" at the 2009-2010 China Electronic Information and TV Industry Research Conference. Furthermore, the Group's Internet TV ("MiTV") also received two key awards -- "Best Product Award" and "Best Market Performance Award". Being the biggest winner at the event, these awards indicate that TCL's contribution to the flat panel industry is highly praised by the Government, the industry and the public. It also urges and encourages the Group to continue with Internet TV development in the next decade.
The event was held on 21 January in Beijing. Government officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Commerce, National Development and Reform Commission and State Information Center and industry experts attended the event. The contribution made by the Group over the decade was recognized by the panel of judges and guests. In fact, the Group was at the forefront of China's flat panel TV development, helping PRC manufacturers leap from the domestic market to global markets. While its TV shipments maintained market leadership in the PRC, the Group's LCD TV global market share moved up to No.6. The Group also actively promotes the development of TV-internet connectivity in the global flat panel TV industry over the next ten years.
Besides being recognized for its contribution to the industry, the Group's Internet TV also won the "Best Product Award" and "Best Market Performance Award" in light of the product's intelligent upgrade system, extensive functionality and rich content. Several years ago, the Group already planned its strategy for the TV-Internet era ahead. A solid foundation was built for launching Internet TV through numerous projects such as the "Venus Project" with Microsoft and the "3C Joint Lab" with Intel. During the Chinese National Day holidays, sales volume of Internet TVs leapt 12-fold over the same week last year.
