GBA 2010 Expands to Six Different Categories to Attract More Projects from the Asia Pacific Region

HONG KONG, May 31 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Nomination is now open for Green Building Award 2010 (GBA 2010). Through GBA 2010, the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC) aim to provide recognition to building related projects with outstanding performance and contributions in sustainability and the environment and also to transform the mainstream market towards wider adoption of sustainable planning, design, construction, maintenance, renovation and revitalization of buildings. With the success of GBA 2006 and 2008, this year's award categories have been expanded to six, with a view to promoting more holistic participation and wider support both locally and throughout the Asia Pacific region.

GBA started in 2006 and is a biennial event. It is the first time GBA 2010 is jointly organised by HKGBC and PGBC. Honorary Advisors include Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, JP, Secretary for Development and Mr. Edward Yau Tang-wah, JP, Secretary for the Environment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government

For GBA 2010, there are 6 award categories:

5. Interiors

6. Projects in Asia Pacific Region

The Chairman of GBA 2010 Organising Committee Mr. Victor Cheung said, "Green Building Award was first introduced in 2006 and subsequently established as a biennial event. It has been recognised as a significant award of the industry and had received overwhelming support with over 100 submissions in 2008. This year, we anticipate even wider participation and support across different regions, especially after the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference which took place in Copenhagen."

The nomination deadline of GBA 2010 is 2 August 2010 (Monday), which will be followed by a series of judging processes. The Award Presentation Ceremony will be held at the Rotunda, third floor of One Exchange Square on 3 November 2010. This year, the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council will be the co-organiser for Green Building Conference with HKGBC and PGBC. The Conference will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo on 4 November 2010.

GBA 2010 Jury Panel is formed from a diverse group covering local and overseas professionals. International jury members include green building expert Professor Raymond J.
