HONG KONG, Dec. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 6th ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition (Sub-degree Category) organised by ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong was held on 8 December with great success. After rounds of competition, The Chinese University of Hong Kong - School of Continuing & Professional Studies (CUSCS) won the Championship and was awarded the "Best Proposal" and "My Favourite Team". Bella Chen from the winning team was also awarded the "Best Presenter" of the Competition. Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Kwun Tong) and Hong Kong School of Commerce were awarded the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
Throughout this innovative challenge, ACCA Hong Kong aims to equip full time accounting and business degree and sub-degree students with thorough analytical skills, business proposal writing skills, presentation skills and communication skills through working in a team environment in a real and interesting business situation.
This year the organiser has invited Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the Partner Organisation. Each contesting team was required to simulate a non-profit making project that is conducive to the development of creative industries in Hong Kong for an institution/organisation and prepare a business proposal with a budget not exceeding HK$3 million for this project to bid a sponsorship from CreateHK's CreateSmart Initiative (CSI). Administered by CreateHK, the CSI was launched in 2009 to provide financial support to initiatives that are conducive to the development of local creative industries. On the day of the Final Competition, the five finalist teams were required to present their business proposals for this project to the panel of judges comprising finance leaders and creative industry experts.
Champion team students from the programme of Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management of CUSCS, they said that they were inspired to incorporate the "Happy Washroom" concept into their proposal by printing comics on tissue papers and opening comic themed washrooms, in order to promote the development of local animations and comics industry.
The panel of judges was impressed by the innovative concept with the balance of feasibility of the business proposal submitted by the winning teams. The judges said the confident and outstanding performance by the Champion team players was also the key of success.
