2015 Suzhou-Wuzhong "Tai Lake Rim" International Walking Race Set for September 26

WUZHONG, China, Sept.11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2015 Suzhou-Wuzhong "Tai Lake Rim" International Walking Race will be held in Wuzhong, Suzhou, China from September 26-29. The multi-day event has attracted over 400 athletes and more than 15,000 amateurs from 18 countries.

The competition, with prize money amounting to US$300,000 features Liu Hong, champion of the Women's 20km Walk at the 2015 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing, Lu Xiuzhi, runner-up of Women's 20km Walk, Australia's Jared Tallent, runner-up of Men's 50km Walk and Chen Ding, London Olympic 20km gold medalist, as well as other well-known professional athletes from 18 countries and regions worldwide. More than 12,000 amateurs have also signed up for the walk to the first stop at Mu Du and about 3,000 are registered to walk on to the second stop at Dong Shan.

The Suzhou-Wuzhong "Tai Lake Rim" International Walking Race has been included in the Public Sports Service System Cooperation Agreement inked between China's General Administration of Sport and the provincial government of Jiangsu. The competition is designed to become a leading event of its kind in the country. This year's event also features a public benefit component: a walking event to support public welfare will be held with charitable organizations including millionforest.org, Stand Up Again and Rongairongle.
