WUHOU DISTRICT, CHENGDU, China, November 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Recently, a 10-people delegation led by Mayor of London City of Canada Mr. Joe Fontana, the Chairman of London Chamber of Commerce Mr. Joaquim Balles, the Director of Surgery department of the University of Western Ontario Mr. John Denstedt paid a visit to West China Hospital of Sichuan University.
On the morning of November 24, a grand welcoming ceremony was held in the VIP room of West China Hospital. Professor Li Hong, the Executive Vice President of Sichuan University extended warm greetings to the delegation on behalf of Sichuan University. The Director of the hospital Mr. Shi Yingkang and Vice Director Mr. Wan Xuehong and Mr. Cheng Nansheng also presented. After that, Mr. Cheng accompanied Mayor Fontana and some other members in visiting the training center, the remote medical center and the research base of the hospital. Mr. Wan and Professor Denstedt exchanged views on strengthening the cooperation in fields such as teaching, research and industrial application, and communicated on the ongoing exchange programs of double-doctorate projects and resident doctors. In the afternoon, Mr. Shi Yingkang had a meeting with Professor Denstedt and other delegation members and decided on the cooperation programs in remote medical treatment and etc.
The visit of the Canadian delegation will not only lay a sound foundation to extend such cooperation models to other schools of Sichuan University, such as School of Law and School of Life Sciences, but will also enhance further comprehensive cooperation with the University of Western Ontario.
