(NYSE: AVT), announced today that Mr. James Tan, Vice President, Human Resources, Asia Pacific, Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia, has been awarded the "Leading HR Leader 2013" by Singapore Human Resource Institute (SHRI) in its annual "The Singapore HR Awards" event, recognizing his outstanding leadership capabilities to oversee, conceptualize, initiate and implement innovative HR practices that position the HR function as an effective strategic business partner. This award is assessed by representatives of Singapore's leading academics and figures from the profession and government.
In addition, Avnet Asia Pte Ltd has also been conferred for another award for the "Leading HR Practices in Talent Management, Retention & Succession Planning 2013". The Leading HR Practices Awards are bestowed upon organizations that have achieved overall effectiveness in their HR and people management functions, thus contributing to the needs of businesses, profession, employees, industry and the nation. This year, among a total of 94 nomination entries from government bodies, private organizations and individuals, Avnet stood out by having fulfilled the relevant criteria and won this much-coveted Awards in the 23 HR award categories.
The Singapore HR Awards by SHRI is the first recognition framework introduced in Singapore to serve to confer distinct recognition on HR professionals and organizations as an employer and employee champion to bring out the best through sound and commendable HR and people management practices.
